Unless you’ve been living under a pile of rocks, you probably know the name Kentucky Fried Chicken. Kentucky Fried Chicken is a stapler all around the world for its production of selling good food that has been popular with children and adults. The food industry has made a name for itself for making available food that tastes great while not having to experience a long time to get it. Who doesn’t love Colonel fried chicken?
KFC has become so popular that it is now part of a dependable and quick meal. In our busy lives, there isn’t much time for cooking, which makes KFC even more appealing. Why cook when you can get a quick, delicious fast meal ready to serve. That is why many police officers find themselves at a KFC drive-through when they can get a break. These men and women in blue have had some tough times lately, and unfortunately, it doesn’t seem times are improving. Others have made the people who protect our street a target with the assumption all police are bad. Still, those in law enforcement remain committed to protecting the public. Their commitment has touched a KFC restaurant owner from Gallipolis, Ohio.
People wanted to show the law enforcement officers how much they appreciated their service to the job and how what they were doing didn’t go unseen. They got together and placed a sign at the KFC establishment. The signs not only got noticed by the townspeople but around the world. The sign had only a few simple words written and placed in the window: Every uniformed police officer eats free every day. They sought to show the police officers in Gallipolis, Ohio, that they appreciate their dedication and hard work while risking their lives to keep them all protected from criminals. Some people may not regard this as being a big deal, but others realize a good hot meal helps to keep these officers going while performing their job and after a grueling workday. The people who run KFC believe this can help make a difference in a police officer’s endurance.
From the beginning, the sign in the KFC window has exploded online with pictures and many sharing. There has also been a hugely positive response on Facebook with 10,000 likes. The post on Facebook grew in popularity every day and comments started coming in from the store employees about the post. The workers assure everyone that they were feeding the uniformed police officers with no charge to them every day. Unfortunately, some people had a different reaction to the kindness generated by KFC. They didn’t appreciate the kindness, and many complained that others should be included in the free meal offered by KFC and not only to law enforcement in uniform. Quite a few agreed and someone even left a reply about how it was a wonderful gesture, but all responders should have the meal given to them, even the volunteer firefighter who doesn’t wear his uniform at lunch. These brave men and women risk their lives while serving the public. They do it to keep us safe from those who want to cause harm and danger. We all heard about the many brave rescues done that save lives. Given a hot meal from KFC is a kindness that shows we value these officers who protect us. A meal to keep them going is not too much to ask.
