In a fiery takedown that’s lighting up conservative circles, Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) delivered a scathing rebuke of a Biden-appointed judicial nominee, calling out what he described as an “oppressive” abuse of authority over woke pronoun policies. The target? Mustafa T. Kasubhai, now a federal judge, who demanded litigants in his courtroom announce their “preferred pronouns” — turning the courtroom into a progressive performance theater.
During a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting on November 2, 2023, Sen. Kennedy didn’t hold back, slamming Kasubhai for forcing his personal ideology on others under the guise of inclusivity. “If you want to use different pronouns, that’s your business,” Kennedy said. “This is America. You’re free to do that. But this judge used his authority to require litigants to do what he thinks is politically correct.”
That wasn’t just a gentle critique. Kennedy went straight to the heart of the matter: judicial overreach wrapped in woke orthodoxy. He called Kasubhai’s behavior in the courtroom a red flag, arguing that his track record as a magistrate should have disqualified him from receiving a lifetime appointment to the federal bench.
“He has no right as a sitting judge to direct in writing litigants in his courtroom to stand up and introduce themselves by saying, ‘My name is John Kennedy. My preferred pronouns are…’” the senator said, mocking the absurdity of the situation.
Kennedy, a champion of common sense and constitutional governance, made it crystal clear: this kind of woke coercion isn’t just unnecessary — it’s un-American. “I’m a litigant in his courtroom, paying a lawyer $400 an hour, trying to get my case resolved,” Kennedy fumed. “And the man on the bench tells me to stand up and announce my pronouns? That’s not voluntary. That’s oppressive.”
And he’s right. Since when did federal courtrooms become ideological training grounds for the progressive elite?
Kennedy also reminded his colleagues that Republicans had previously blocked judicial nominees during President Trump’s term if they weren’t up to par. “When President Trump nominated people who weren’t qualified to be on the federal bench, we killed those nominations,” he reminded the committee. “Now here’s your chance.”
Despite the senator’s warnings and a glaring lack of judicial impartiality from Kasubhai, Democrats predictably steamrolled ahead. On January 8, 2024, Kasubhai was confirmed to the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon by a narrow 51–44 vote. In a symbolic victory for the far-left, progressive groups celebrated Kasubhai as the first Muslim lifetime judge on the Oregon federal bench — ignoring the real issue: his blatant use of judicial power to advance a radical social agenda.
Sen. Kennedy’s viral defense of sanity in the courtroom serves as a warning — that the progressive Left isn’t just infiltrating our schools and institutions, but our justice system too. And if more senators don’t find their spine, we can expect many more activist judges on the bench — mandating pronoun declarations instead of focusing on justice.
