A major political firestorm is brewing as two Republican congressmen are calling on the Department of Justice to investigate New York City mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani — a self-proclaimed socialist with disturbing ties to radical Islamist figures — and potentially revoke his U.S. citizenship.

Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) fired the opening salvo last week, demanding federal law enforcement “review every naturalization of the past 30 years — starting with Mamdani.” The move comes amid growing outrage over photos showing the radical leftist Democrat posing with an imam who has openly supported jihad against the United States — including backing the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

The call for investigation quickly gained traction among conservatives, including billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, who posted that Mamdani “represents the future of the Democratic Party.” Musk’s remark underscored what many Americans already believe — that the left’s embrace of socialism and anti-American extremism has reached dangerous new depths, even as voters continue to reject such radicalism at the ballot box.

Rep. Fine, speaking to the *New York Post*, said bluntly that America can’t afford to ignore what’s happening. “We need to take a hard look at how these folks became citizens,” he said. “If there is any fraud or violation of the rules, we need to denaturalize and deport.”

He didn’t stop there. Fine also called for an investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), another radical Democrat who has long been accused of antisemitism and of manipulating immigration laws for personal gain. “There’s a lot of us that are very, very concerned about the enemy within — people who have come to this country to destroy it,” Fine said. “If they’re not Americans, they can’t be in office.”

Backing him up is Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN), who’s been leading the charge against Mamdani since June. Ogles has alleged that Mamdani — currently leading in New York City’s mayoral polls — lied on his 2018 naturalization application by concealing his ties to the Democratic Socialists of America, an organization that aligns ideologically with communist movements worldwide.

“In 2018 when he was naturalized, he failed to disclose that he had joined the Democratic Socialists of America,” Ogles said. “That’s a communist organization which, at that time, would have disqualified him from becoming a United States citizen.”

The Tennessee congressman went even further, demanding the DOJ take action to “Deport Mamdani!” and calling him an “antisemitic, socialist, communist who will destroy the great City of New York.” Ogles also cited Mamdani’s public support for releasing the “Holy Land Five” — a group convicted in 2008 for funneling millions of dollars to Hamas.

Under federal immigration law, any individual who has been “a member of or affiliated with the Communist or any other totalitarian party” is considered inadmissible for citizenship. The naturalization form explicitly asks whether the applicant has ever been associated with such groups — something Mamdani appears to have conveniently omitted.

President Donald Trump has not minced words about the embattled socialist, referring to him as a “communist lunatic.” His criticism echoes the sentiments of millions of Americans who see Mamdani’s rise as proof that the Democratic Party is no longer the party of JFK — but one flirting dangerously with Marxism and anti-American ideology.

While Democrats rush to defend Mamdani and label the calls for investigation “xenophobic,” the facts remain damning. A man with admitted socialist beliefs, alleged ties to pro-terror figures, and apparent dishonesty on his citizenship application now stands poised to lead America’s largest city.

As Rep. Fine put it bluntly: “If they’re not Americans, they can’t be in office.” For millions of patriotic citizens, it’s a simple truth — and a reminder that defending America starts by knowing who we’re letting run it.
