Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) once again lived up to her reputation for unhinged theatrics this week, launching into a chaotic tirade against House Republicans that quickly devolved into screaming about a supposed “fascist takeover” of America. The meltdown, caught on camera and instantly circulated online, drew widespread backlash—including from her GOP colleagues who refused to let her smear them as Nazis.
The tantrum came as Democrats watched wave after wave of Trump victories pile up in Washington. Among them: the Trump administration’s move to mobilize hundreds of National Guard troops to secure the nation’s capital, a decision that infuriated the far left.
Rather than address the substance of policy decisions, Tlaib chose to rant incoherently. “We can’t be passive right now, so nobody over there should take anything we say seriously, you know, like so personally, as if we’re attacking them,” she babbled, before insisting, “We’re attacking a process, not attacking people here. And I think it’s really important we need to stand up against this fascist takeover. That’s not a bad word. It’s a fact.”
Her claim that Republicans are staging a “fascist takeover” was so over the top that it prompted pushback from the committee chair and from Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), who cut through her nonsense with a dose of reality. “She’s going to refer to me and some of my colleagues as if we were from the Third Reich,” Donalds said. “It’s insane. Do I look like a member of the Third Reich to you, Ms. Tlaib? Is that what I look like to you?”
Rather than back down, Tlaib doubled down—rambling, raising her voice, and repeating herself in what came across more like a protest chant than serious congressional remarks. “I think it’s radical, and I think it’s radical, and I think it’s insane,” she fumed.
Conservatives wasted no time highlighting her bizarre performance. One commentator summed it up bluntly: “JUST IN: Rep. Rashida Tlaib starts screaming at the top of her lungs after being confronted for saying it’s a ‘fact’ that the United States is experiencing a ‘fascist takeover’… Completely unhinged.”
Another quipped that Tlaib doesn’t actually understand the word she keeps weaponizing. “She has no idea what fascism is. She’s just screaming the word because it = someone I don’t like, I want to silence, and who I condone violence against,” the post read, paraphrasing George Orwell’s famous warning about the misuse of political labels.
Commenters also pointed out the dangerous connection between Democrats’ rhetoric and left-wing violence. One user recalled how assassin Tyler Robinson etched “hey fascist” into a bullet casing he used in the killing of Charlie Kirk, even as Democrats insist they don’t encourage violence.
The hypocrisy wasn’t lost on conservatives. “Funny how the people screaming the loudest about fascism are the ones trying to police speech, shut down dissent, and weaponize government,” another commenter observed. “Projection much?”
Tlaib’s latest meltdown isn’t new—it’s part of a pattern. From shouting profanities about President Trump to railing against Israel on the House floor, she has turned herself into the poster child of the Squad’s radical, grievance-driven politics. But this latest display may go down as one of her worst.
At a time when Americans are tired of partisan name-calling, Tlaib’s shrieking about “fascism” does nothing but expose the emptiness of her arguments. The reality is simple: she doesn’t want accountability, she doesn’t want debate, and she certainly doesn’t want to face the fact that the Trump agenda is winning.
Instead, she screams.
