In a bold move to restore law and order to America’s capital, President Donald Trump officially declared “Liberation Day” for Washington, D.C., deploying the military to confront the violent crime and chaos that have plagued the city under Democrat leadership for far too long. But the president didn’t stop there — he made it clear that if other leftist-run cities refuse to get tough on crime, they too could face similar federal intervention.
This decisive action comes after a shocking incident in D.C. where a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer was attacked and beaten by a mob of teenagers while trying to protect an elderly woman. Enough was enough.
Taking to Truth Social, Trump posted a fiery declaration: “Washington, D.C. will be LIBERATED today! Crime, Savagery, Filth, and Scum will DISAPPEAR. I will MAKE OUR CAPITAL GREAT AGAIN! The days of ruthlessly killing, or hurting, innocent people, are OVER! I quickly fixed the Border (ZERO ILLEGALS in last 3 months!), D.C. is next!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
At a White House press conference, the president doubled down on his promise, calling the deployment a necessary step to “rescue our nation’s capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam, and squalor, and worse.” His message was clear: the days of permissive Democrat policies turning cities into battlegrounds are coming to an end.
And D.C. won’t be the last city on the receiving end of this crackdown. Trump named other Democrat-controlled urban areas as candidates for similar military-backed law enforcement action, calling out New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles by name.
Turning his sights to New York, Trump said, “Then I’m going to look at New York, in a little while. Let’s do this. Let’s do this together.” His tone left little doubt that the crime-infested Big Apple is next on the chopping block if its left-wing leadership continues to ignore the safety of its citizens.
Chicago drew even harsher criticism from the president, who blasted Mayor Brandon Johnson as “totally incompetent.” Trump didn’t spare Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker either, calling him an “incompetent” who was “thrown out of the family business” and mocked Pritzker’s presidential ambitions with a sharp jab about his recent weight loss. “Hopefully LA is watching,” Trump quipped, signaling that California’s leftist leadership should take note.
Though the president made it clear he prefers cities clean up their own act, he warned he won’t hesitate to deploy troops if necessary. “We’re just going to see what happens with this all… other cities are watching, and maybe they’ll self-clean up,” he said. But he added emphatically, “this will go further,” emphasizing that his administration is “starting very strongly with DC.”
For years, Democrat-run cities have suffered under permissive policies that enable crime, homelessness, and general lawlessness. Trump’s “Liberation Day” signals a new, no-nonsense approach: when local leaders fail their citizens, the federal government must step in to restore order and safety.
If cities like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles don’t act now, they might soon find themselves next in line for a federal crackdown. President Trump’s message is unmistakable: America’s great cities will no longer be safe havens for criminals and chaos. The era of lawlessness is over.
