A retired Indian couple has filed a claim against their son and his wife, alleging that they have not yet given birth to a grandchild. The plaintiffs, 61-year-old government worker Sanjeev Ranjan Prasad and his wife Sadhana Prasad, stated in their lawsuit that they were under severe emotional strain since they had not yet produced a grandchild and that this lawsuit was precisely what they needed to get the younger couple to produce one.

According to his parents, a marriage of six years is more than enough time to try things out and move on with their relationship. The older pair want their son and his wife to start having a kid as soon as possible – or pay a steep penalty – or they will have grandkids before long.

The parents are suing their son for 50 million rubles, which is around $675,000 if the son and his spouse do not conceive within a year.

“We want a grandson or a granddaughter within a year or compensation because I have spent my life’s earnings on my son’s education,” said Prasad to reporters.

Prasad sent his son to the United States so that he could acquire his pilot’s license. He claimed that he spent $47,300 on tuition.

“The main issue is that at this age, we need a grandchild, but these people (my son and daughter-in-law) have an attitude that they don’t think about us,” Prasad said. “We got him married in the hope we would have the pleasure of becoming grandparents. It has been six years since their marriage. It feels as if despite having everything, we have nothing.”

The couple’s request to influence their son on behalf of a kid was accepted as a genuine lawsuit by the court. The case will go to a hearing in Haridwar, Uttarakhand’s northernmost city, on Monday, according to media reports.

Prasad and his wife are overjoyed at the prospect of being able to see their newborn grandchild sooner rather than later, so they want to expedite things.

“We are not getting love and affection from where we want it the most,” he said. “I feel very unlucky.”

The son said that he and his wife are attempting to have a kid, but one has not yet arrived.

“We are very hurt by this lawsuit. My parents should trust us,” the son said. “We will have a baby, inshallah (God willing). We have been married for six years, and we are not in a hurry, but we are trying for a baby.”

The young man told a news program that he had no idea his parents were so upset about not having a grandchild, and he would never have guessed they’d sue him.

“I am very shocked by this,” the son said. “I had no idea they felt this way.”

The son said that he would be having a talk with his parents to see if they could work things out..

“I hope we can come to an agreement,” he stated. “I love my parents very much, and I do not want to hurt them.”
