Not everyone will receive a gift of $100 or more.

Oprah Winfrey’s fans were astonished when she expressed her shock that a man had put a $100 cap on his Christmas gift for his mom.

On TikTok, Oprah Winfrey has earned over 651,000 views with a video where she suggested Colin Drummond buy his sick mother the jewelry box that was included in her annual holiday gift roundup. After confiding to the 68-year-old former talk show star about what he needed for his mom’s present, Winfrey had clearly found the perfect solution!

“You know, a wonderful thing is that jewelry box that I had on ‘Favorite Things,’” Winfrey imparted her advice to Drummond, the Washington bureau chief of TMZ according to LinkedIn.

“That’s too expensive for me,” he responded quickly before Winfrey retaliated.

“No, it’s not — it’s really not,” she said. “It’s, like, a hundred and some or dollars.”

In response, the content creator expressed a desire to buy something more affordable that would fit in his budget.

“Lower than $100,” she seemed dazed until Drummond elaborated that his mother enjoyed sentimental gifts far more than anything else.

“Uhh. OK, then this is the perfect gift for your mom,” said Winfrey. “You do a list of your top 10 reasons why you love her, and you make a beautiful card, and it’s your top 10.”

Drummond seemed pleased with Oprah’s suggestion, as his video featured an overlay caption that read “Oprah Just Slayed Mom Christmas Gift”, however, the public opinion of this idea was quite different. Many people criticized her for being too far removed from the reality on a financial level.

“The judgment when he said $100 was too expensive,” said one user.

“She said oh you poor? I got a better gift for you,” someone else said.

“She was SHOOK that $100 was too expensive. ‘Do they even make things that cost less than $100,’ ” added another person.

Winfrey’s statement was defended by several people, who argued that since she is affluent $100 appears to be an inexpensive amount for her.

“Oprah is a billionaire but she gave a gift suggestion that’s $100 … but y’all saying she’s out of touch lol,” said one person.

“Her second suggestion was incredibly thoughtful,” another person highlighted.

“She’s thinking on her feet here, not prepared for this question, so, I think she did alright,” someone else said.
