In yet another slap in the face to patriotic Americans, the NFL’s latest halftime performer, Puerto Rican pop star Bad Bunny, has been caught sitting through “God Bless America” at a Yankees game — fueling even more backlash against the league’s relentless left-wing pandering.
TMZ Sports broke the story Wednesday, revealing that Bad Bunny — the same performer chosen by the NFL for its Super Bowl halftime show — refused to stand as the stadium sang “God Bless America” during the seventh-inning stretch at Yankee Stadium Tuesday night. Photos and audio from the scene show fans rising to their feet, singing “Stand beside her and guide her,” while Bad Bunny sat motionless in his seat.
For many conservative Americans, the display was just the latest example of how the NFL — once a unifying symbol of American pride — continues to alienate its core fan base in favor of celebrity activism and woke virtue signaling.
This controversy comes on the heels of a long list of tone-deaf decisions from league executives. Despite fans’ clear frustration, the NFL has doubled down on its “End Racism” end zone messaging and continues to promote divisive political slogans. Even the league’s opening weekend featured a performance of the so-called “Black National Anthem,” an overtly political stunt that drew yawns from the crowd and sharp criticism online.
Now, adding insult to injury, the NFL’s decision to hand the most coveted entertainment spot of the year — the Super Bowl halftime show — to an artist openly hostile to American values has conservatives fuming.
Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has a long history of anti-American and far-left activism. He’s attacked both former President Donald Trump and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), once claiming he wouldn’t perform in the U.S. because he feared his fans might be detained by immigration officers. “F***ing ICE could be outside [my concert],” he said in a 2021 interview, peppering his rant with vulgarities aimed at law enforcement.
The disrespect didn’t go unnoticed. Conservative commentator Jack Posobiec blasted the incident on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “BREAKING: Bad Bunny DISRESPECTS the USA by sitting down during ‘God Bless America’ at Yankees game. This is the Super Bowl halftime performer.”
Tomi Lahren was equally blunt: “Bad Bunny appears to stay seated during ‘God Bless America’ at Yankee Stadium… Yeah, because he has a clear disdain for America. He’s an a-hole.”
Many Americans agree — and they’re asking why the NFL continues to embrace celebrities who openly sneer at the country that made their fame and fortune possible. Once upon a time, the Super Bowl halftime show was about unity, music, and national pride. Now, it’s yet another platform for leftist protest and moral posturing.
For patriotic fans who just want to watch football without being insulted, this is one more reason to tune out — and one more reminder that the NFL seems more interested in appeasing activists than respecting America.
