California’s radical left-wing Governor Gavin Newsom once again showed his true colors this week, turning an anti-Trump rally in Los Angeles into a circus of baseless accusations, conspiracy theories, and hysterical outbursts. The event, which his team mockingly dubbed “Liberation Day” in response to President Trump’s decision to federalize D.C. police, was little more than a stage for Newsom to bash Trump, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, and anyone else who dares stand up for law and order.
The rally’s theatrics quickly collided with reality. U.S. Border Patrol agents, present in large numbers, arrested at least one protester as part of their ongoing effort to restore order in crime-ridden Los Angeles. That’s when Newsom and his handlers spiraled. Instead of praising federal officers for protecting citizens, the governor smeared them as “Trump’s private army” and even accused them of trespassing on private property.
Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino, refusing to let the governor’s political grandstanding go unchallenged, cut through the noise with a straightforward explanation: the agents were simply making Los Angeles safer. “Since we won’t have politicians who will do that, we do that ourselves,” Bovino declared, adding pointedly, “As you can see, already making it a safer place.” His message to Newsom couldn’t have been clearer: federal agents aren’t intimidated by cheap political stunts.
But Newsom wasn’t finished. In a bizarre rant, he accused President Trump and former ICE director Tom Homan of orchestrating a “deliberate provocation” by scheduling enforcement actions near his rally. Without evidence, he suggested that ICE was engaging in “indiscriminate” arrests, spinning yet another conspiracy theory to rile up his far-left base.
Newsom’s speech quickly devolved into fearmongering. “Wake up, America,” he screeched, claiming that Trump had “militarized” Los Angeles and thrown “due process rights out the window.” In reality, Trump has done what Democrats like Newsom refuse to do: empower law enforcement to protect American citizens from chaos, crime, and open-border anarchy.
The contrast could not have been starker. On one side, Newsom’s office issued a juvenile statement screeching in all caps: “WE WILL NOT BE INTIMIDATED BY WEAK LITTLE DONALD TRUMP, THE CRIMINAL PRESIDENT!” His team then doubled down online, blasting out, “TRUMP’S PRIVATE ARMY IS ILLEGALLY ON PRIVATE PROPERTY!!!!”
On the other side, Border Patrol officials calmly explained their mission. “We’re here making Los Angeles a safer place… we’re glad to be here, not going anywhere,” Bovino said with confidence. He closed with a devastating rebuke to Newsom’s fearmongering: “We’re going to continue to do that, and they can take that one to the bank and cash it.”
Newsom’s outburst only underscores how desperate Democrats have become as Trump’s America First policies gain traction across the country. Instead of addressing California’s spiraling crime, homelessness, and open-border chaos, Newsom prefers to attack the men and women risking their lives to keep communities safe.
Once again, Gavin Newsom has proven that his priorities lie not with law-abiding Californians, but with illegal immigrants and left-wing theatrics. Meanwhile, federal law enforcement is doing the job he won’t.
