Netflix is in hot water in the United States after a French movie that “fetishizes and sexualizes young girls and could encourage pedophilia” sparked outrage. In response to the outcry, Senator Ted Cruz wrote a letter to Attorney General on behalf of furious Texans, asking him to look into Netflix and why they were so intent on flooding Americans with “Cuties.”

“Cuties” on Netflix, though its name might make you think otherwise, is not a light-hearted film. Americans were shocked to see the number of “explicit and abusive scenes” when it appeared on the streaming service just a few days ago. One scene in particular features an eleven-year-old girl being asked to dance provocatively.

Senator Cruz is pushing for Attorney General to investigate whether Netflix broke any child pornography laws by sharing the film with the world. Cruz caught on to the Cancel Culture bandwagon as he wrote a letter to the Justice Department, which included the #CancelNetflix hashtag.

According to Texas Senator Ted Cruz, the movie contains “partial child nudity” and a scene that shows “a minor’s bare breast.” Cruz is afraid that allowing kids access to such material will create a whole new generation of pedophiles. Pedophiles, he believes, will abuse the French film “in abusive ways” in order to produce more and more movies with “explicit and abusive scenes” involving minors.

The French film features a cast of young girls in a dance troupe. Due to their roles in the movie, they are dressed provocatively which has caused criticism from American viewers. The accompanying dance choreography is also quite risque for such young dancers.

Senator Cruz said, “The film routinely fetishizes and sexualizes these pre-adolescent girls as they perform dances simulating sexual conduct in revealing clothing including at least one scene with partial child nudity. These scenes in and of themselves are harmful.”

The Senator is worried that “it is likely that the filming of this movie created even more explicit and abusive scenes, and that pedophiles across the world in the future will manipulate and imitate this film in abusive ways.”

Ted Cruz doesn’t want to tread on its First Amendment rights. That’s why he asked Attorney General “to investigate the production of ‘Cuties’ and Netflix’s distribution of the film in order to determine whether Netflix, any of its executives, or anyone involved with the making of ‘Cuties’ violated any federal laws against the production and distribution of child pornography.”

At a time when many Hollywood executives have been exposed as predators, Cruz’s call to action is timely, because the #MeToo movement, which is popular among liberals, revealed that many Hollywood executives used their power to abuse and torment female victims, including minors like those seen in “Cuties”.
