The liberal media’s Trump Derangement Syndrome is in full swing again, and MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell just proved it. The left-wing host of “The Last Word” shocked viewers Wednesday night by announcing that he was simply too “exhausted” to keep covering President Donald Trump’s second term—so he’s taking a week off to recover.

O’Donnell, clearly overwhelmed by the thought of another four years of Trump, made his dramatic confession during a conversation with fellow MSNBC host Rachel Maddow.

“This is day 52. I thought it was day 92,” O’Donnell lamented, as if Trump’s presidency were some kind of personal torture. “It turns out it’s day 52, Rachel, and I’m exhausted at day 52, and so I’m going to take next week off.”

Maddow, who had previously committed to hosting her program daily for Trump’s first 100 days, responded with mock concern, saying, “We all tell each other, you have to take care of yourself. You got to pace yourself. You got to be in this for the long haul.”

For a network that spent years breathlessly pushing one anti-Trump conspiracy after another—from the Russia hoax to the bogus impeachments—it seems the prospect of actually having to report on a successful Trump presidency is just too much for its hosts to handle. If O’Donnell is already hitting burnout at day 52, how will he possibly make it through four years?

Maddow even jokingly asked if she could join him on vacation, but O’Donnell shut her down, saying, “No, no, no. You said 100 days, you said 100 days.” Translation: The left-wing echo chamber must stay fully operational to keep up the hysteria, even if its hosts are struggling to keep the act going.

Rather than reporting actual news, O’Donnell’s main focus has been attacking Trump at every turn. But curiously, the MSNBC host had no problem gushing over President Joe Biden in an interview just weeks ago. O’Donnell told Biden he had the “largest list of domestic achievements” he could think of—a laughable claim, considering the record-high inflation, border crisis, and disastrous foreign policy under Biden’s watch.

The contrast couldn’t be clearer: MSNBC’s hosts are energized when they’re propping up failing Democrats, but when faced with the undeniable success of Trump’s return to office, they crumble under the weight of their own hysteria.

At this rate, MSNBC might need to start offering stress leave for all its hosts. If O’Donnell can’t handle just 52 days of Trump’s second term, maybe it’s time for the liberal media to finally accept reality: Trump is back, America is winning again, and no amount of media meltdowns will change that.
