The following footage is disturbing. It shows a hair dryer exploding and igniting a fire in a barbershop that killed two men.
The incident occurred in July while Ashraful Islam was giving a customer a trim at a barbershop in Kanchpur, Bangladesh.
The barber in the clip is seen plugging a hair dryer into an outlet and then turning it on and off. After doing so, he opens the appliance on client Hridoy Hasan, which appears to explode. The barbershop and the two men are suddenly consumed by flames as if hit by a flamethrower.
The video comes to an end with moans and a woman screaming as smoke fills the burning room.
Sadly, both victims were rushed to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery but could not be saved.
It is not yet clear what caused the fire, but experts believe it was started by the excessive use of methanol-based aftershave in the barbershop. They think that the poor ventilation system allowed the chemical to enter the hair dryer. When someone turned on the device, it ignited a fire in the heating coil like an accidental Molotov cocktail.
