Amid Covid-19 pandemic, well-known people and celebrities are trying their best to help. More effort focusing on the frontline workers. The First Lady of the United States of America, Melania Trump, is one of these people who are ready to help. Unfortunately, her generosity efforts received heavy criticisms on social media.

Trader Joe Employees received lunch packages from Melania. The fact that the boxes had Be Best logo was the base of the criticism. Many people saw the move as a brand promotion more than a generous gesture. Trader Joe is a grocery store that sells food and drinks from various brands and suppliers.

Catherine Cypher, Director of Media Affairs for Melania Trump, took the lunch packages to social media. The caption read: “Our nation stands unified in supporting those serving in the frontline of Covid-19. To show her gratitude, the FLOTUS had boxed lunches delivered to staff at local Trader Joes.”

This generous act was not received well by social media users. Instead of gaining people’s support, the FLOTUS efforts got questioned. On a comment, one user saw the move as cheap, tacky, and insulting for having personnel in suits deliver boxes with the first lady’s branding. The comment insisted that it was ridiculous.

Another comment read, “FLOTUS takes food to Trader Joe’s. That’s hilarious. Doesn’t Trader Joe’s sell FOOD? She needs to take fries to McDonald’s next.” A comment question asked whether the act was genuine or a feeble brand promotion attempt.

Also, the photos received criticism for sending food to staff serving the very same thing. It would be better if the health workers, the homeless, or even children received the packages.

Melania shared the photos of the lunch packages branded with the Be Best logo on her Instagram. She posted: “Be Best care packages are on their way to hospitals across the country! A small token of appreciation from the first lady for their hard work, compassion, and kindness during these difficult times.”

Also, this post couldn’t evade the backlash. Melania’s actions got slammed. Also, a question about nurses and doctors in quarantine popped in the comment section.

The first lady’s efforts are beyond Trader Joe. Medical workers and children in hospitals have also received care packages nationwide. Ten states have benefited from the boxes. They include, New York, District of Columbia, Louisiana, Texas, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Ohio, Florida, and Tennessee.

She appreciated the medical society for efforts to ensure the Americans’ health protection.

Melania encouraged the stay at home measure as it helped in combating Covid-19, on one of her posts. She said that people protect the vulnerable to the front line of the pandemic by staying indoors. On another separate post, she appreciated the braves who were facing the pandemic.
