The mainstream media’s obsession with attacking President Trump reached new heights last week, as flagship news broadcasts on ABC, CBS, and NBC devoted an astonishing 46 minutes to covering his pardons of January 6 defendants—while all but ignoring President Joe Biden’s preemptive pardons of his own family.
According to a study by the Media Research Center, the major networks gave just three-and-a-half minutes to Biden’s highly controversial last-minute pardons of his relatives—James Biden, Sara Jones Biden, Valerie Biden Owens, John T. Owens, and Francis W. Biden—while launching into a full-fledged smear campaign over Trump’s long-promised move to grant clemency to more than 1,500 people prosecuted in connection with the January 6 protests.
46 Minutes of Trump Bashing, 3 Minutes on Biden’s Self-Serving Pardons
Between Inauguration Day on January 20 and the morning of January 22, network coverage was as lopsided as ever.
– ABC spent 15 minutes, 30 seconds attacking Trump’s pardons, while giving just 34 seconds to Biden shielding his own family.
– CBS dedicated 16 minutes, 32 seconds to Trump’s actions, compared to just 64 seconds on Biden’s eyebrow-raising pardons.
– NBC gave Trump 14 minutes, 30 seconds of coverage, while Biden’s family scandal barely scraped two minutes.
For a media that spent years hyperventilating about so-called “norms” and “the rule of law,” their silence on Biden’s blatantly corrupt pardons is deafening.
Trump Stands by His Decisions
Trump had made his position crystal clear well before retaking office—promising to right the injustices suffered by those who have been politically persecuted for their involvement in the January 6 protests. During an exclusive Oval Office interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Trump explained his reasoning.
“These people have been in prison for three-and-a-half years—many in solitary confinement—and they were treated horribly,” Trump said. “You know what they were there for? Protesting the vote.”
Hannity acknowledged that no one should “invade the Capitol,” but Trump stood firm in his belief that many of these individuals had been subjected to excessive punishment and that their actions were being exaggerated for political purposes.
Meanwhile, the Biden administration has spent years dismissing concerns about political prosecutions while ramping up attacks on Trump supporters. Now, in his final hours as president, Biden quietly ensured his own family members were protected from any future legal consequences.
Biden’s Hypocrisy on Display
Biden’s preemptive pardons are especially ironic given his own past statements. In 2020, Biden criticized reports that Trump was considering preemptive pardons for his family, saying:
“Well, it concerns me in terms of what kind of precedent it sets and how the rest of the world looks at us as a nation of laws and justice.”
Yet, when it came time to face potential investigations into his family’s highly suspicious business dealings, Biden wasted no time in protecting his inner circle.
The Media’s Selective Outrage
The Democrat-controlled media will do anything to protect Biden and smear Trump. They’ll dedicate nearly an hour of breathless coverage to vilifying Trump for fulfilling his promise to correct politically motivated sentences, yet they’ll bury a massive abuse of power by Biden in a few passing seconds.
The American people see through the double standard—and the media’s credibility continues to crumble.
