Martin Luther King Jr.’s son has used his strong influence as the son of a civil rights and American legend to request people to boycott the NFL. He claims that people should boycott the league because NFL blocked Collin Kaepernick from playing as a QB; hence they should only return when the quarterback is back. The teams at NFL refute the claims and continue to state that they haven’t blocked Kaepernick; it’s just that a team hasn’t picked him for many years. It doesn’t make any sense because Collin was performing well. It was only after he took the knee at an NFL game when they played the national anthem. Kaepernick was using his platform to protest against racism or brutality. The ratings at NFL began to drop daily as more players began to take the knee when the national anthem gets played.

Because there are no teams in the NFL which can hire Kaepernick, Martin informed TMZ about the need for change. The NFL has to be cleared of its actions; hence it can be done if the public decides to do it. There’s no room for people to keep watching. Martin Luther is right. With the NFL struggling, many civilians in America prefer to watch their favorite programs instead of watching sports. In 2016/2017, there was a rating drop which was estimated to be 17%. Currently, there’s a higher probability of more people ditching the NFL entirely. Like his father, if Martin Luther III asks people to boycott the league, then the people will obey him. For him, it’s not suitable for the industry to blackball Collin because he is highly talented as a quarterback in history. Kaepernick doesn’t fit in any of the available roles as a quarterback because various teams overlook hiring him. Instead of hiring Kaepernick, many significant teams have maintained their stand as they continue to lose their highest scores.

Martin says that teams might need to have a strategic quarterback who has proven their working record at various times. Even if teams require a strategic quarterback multiple times, Collin is one of the players who have a proven record to play. Even Marco Rubio, a former presidential candidate of the United States, believes that the blacklisting of Collin by the NFL wasn’t right. Rubio opened up about everything during his TMZ interview. He confirmed that despite the guy getting hired or not, NFL doesn’t have qualified QBs at the moment who go with their decision. Even if he doesn’t own the NFL, he still doesn’t know about all the 64 QBs; hence, it’s not why he is refraining from watching the games. Also, as a former Republican party presidential candidate, owners of the NFL think that Rubio has brought multiple things around him which they don’t prefer. Even so, if he were the owner and the best person, he would have brought Collin back to play in NFL. But it seems there’s more to it than what everyone is watching. Therefore, Martin Luther III is correct to ask people to boycott NFL until they decide that it’s right for them to have one of the teams employ Collin Kaepernick to play again as their best QB. But if not, then there is no need to keep on supporting the NFL games anymore.
