Loretta Lynn’s ranch was devastated by floods from Hurricane Florence. The country icon’s Ranch, Hurricane Mills in Tennessee, was flooded when the nearby city of Nashville got more than 10 inches of rain from the storm. Loretta Lynn posted on her Facebook page that she lost a lot of possessions, but hasn’t been harmed physically. She is staying with friends while the ranch is still underwater. Loretta says, “I’m lucky to be alive”. Loretta was at her ranch when the storm hit and she had to be evacuated by boat. Loretta’s son, Jack, says he expects it will be impossible for Loretta to get back home in the next several weeks and doesn’t know when she’ll return.

Loretta is from Kentucky where there was also flooding from Hurricane Florence after it ravaged the coast. Loretta was scheduled to perform in Tennessee next week, but she is postponing the concerts out of respect for her fans and also because she can’t get back to her ranch just yet. Loretta says, “I have moisture in my throat”. Loretta plans to return when it’s safe. Loretta is 90 years old and is the first woman to win the Country Music Hall of Fame Award. Loretta is also an eight-time Grammy winner and was one of the first inductees into the Grand Ole Opry. Loretta says her biggest influence has been Dolly Parton, who Loretta says is “one helluva writer”. Her foreman, unfortunately, passed away due to the flooding, his name was Wayne Spears Loretta said she was waiting on him to come to get her out of the ranch. Loretta says she doesn’t know what caused the flooding, but that it’s always flooded in Hurricane Mills when there’s heavy rain.

Loretta says her spirit has been boosted by all of the people who have offered to help. Loretta is resilient and says she will make it back home one day. Loretta was recently honored at the CMT Awards and is currently working on a new album which is expected to be released in 2019. Loretta was also named as an inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame earlier this year, along with Reba McEntire. Loretta says she is so honored to be in the Hall of Fame and has been working hard for this. The foreman Wayne Spears was out checking on the farm animals when all of the sudden the rapid floods washed him away. Many were witnesses to his body floating afterward. Loretta was one of the survivors and is now staying with friends. Loretta said she was waiting on Wayne to come to pick her up, but he never showed up because he passed away. Loretta plans to make a return once it’s safe again. Loretta says she believes this is God’s will and that she has faith she’ll make it back home one day. Loretta has been making music for over half a century and is still going strong, she’s expected to release an album this year.
