Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), chair of the far-left Congressional Progressive Caucus, openly urged her party to prepare for a “strike” in the streets to oppose President Donald Trump. Her remarks, laced with revolutionary undertones, immediately drew outrage from conservatives who say it was nothing short of a dangerous call to violence.
The video, posted this week, shows Jayapal telling Democrats they need to get “strike ready” and “street ready” to flex their political muscle. “Part of that,” she said, “is understanding our own strength.” She went on to encourage Democrats to assess their “risk tolerance”—an eyebrow-raising phrase many took to mean figuring out how much lawlessness they can get away with in public demonstrations.
Jayapal didn’t stop there. She declared that once Democrats understand what’s “effective” in the streets, they should begin mobilizing to put pressure on Trump’s administration. In her words: “The more we understand what’s effective, what the risks are, and who’s ready to participate, the more impact we can have.”
For anyone who has watched Democrats over the past decade, the message was clear: she was telling her followers to prepare for more street protests, riots, and chaos. This is the same Democratic Party that stood by as Antifa torched American cities, that excused “mostly peaceful” riots causing billions in damage, and that repeatedly vilified police officers while enabling lawlessness.
The backlash was swift and fierce. One popular conservative account on X, Patriot Oasis, blasted Jayapal’s comments, calling them a “CLEAR call to violence.” The post racked up nearly 400,000 views in hours. Thousands of commenters echoed the outrage, asking why Democrat lawmakers are permitted to stoke unrest without consequences.
“Why are members of Congress allowed to make clear, blatant calls for violence? Why are none of them EVER held accountable for their crimes?” one user demanded. Another put it more bluntly: “This is giving the green light to radicalized leftists to continue the violence in the streets. Why is this not at least a conspiracy charge?”
It’s not the first time Democrats have flirted with violent rhetoric. From Maxine Waters telling activists to “get in the face” of Trump officials, to Kamala Harris egging on the summer 2020 riots by raising bail money for looters, to Nancy Pelosi shrugging off mob rule as “the voice of the people”—the left has a long history of incitement. Jayapal’s latest comments are simply part of that disturbing pattern.
The double standard is impossible to ignore. Conservatives are censored, investigated, and demonized over the slightest criticism of government, yet when Democrats openly call for their supporters to get “street ready,” the media shrugs. Imagine, for just one second, if a Republican lawmaker had urged Trump supporters to “flex” their strength in the streets. The DOJ would already be drafting indictments.
Rep. Jayapal’s remarks are more than reckless—they’re dangerous. At a time when America needs stability, Democrats are once again flirting with chaos, using threats of unrest as a political weapon.
