President Donald Trump says Washington, D.C. is finally getting its city back — and he’s crediting the National Guard and federal agents with restoring order after years of Democrat-enabled chaos.

In an Oval Office interview with the *Daily Caller’s* Reagan Reese on August 29, Trump explained that the federal government’s show of force in the capital has turned the tide against criminals and made the streets safe again. “So it turned out, it was amazing, because we’re a crime free zone now,” Trump said proudly. “I mean, you see what’s going on? There’s no crime. People are walking to restaurants. They’re free. It’s almost like we just freed the whole Washington, D.C.”

A City Restored by Strength

The president pointed out that, unlike Chicago or New York, where Democrat mayors can block action, D.C. is federal territory — giving him the authority to deploy troops and agencies to protect residents. The results, he said, have been immediate and dramatic.

“Went faster than I thought,” Trump admitted. “I knew we were going to do it, but it went faster than I thought. We have tremendous soldiers that go in there and do it, and they’re strong. They love America.”

For years, residents of the capital have been terrorized by violent crime, carjackings, and brazen assaults while Democrats in charge looked the other way. Now, Trump says, ordinary people feel safe enough to walk the streets again, eat out at restaurants, and live without fear.

Media Complains About Success

Of course, the mainstream media isn’t celebrating the turnaround. As Reese pointed out, *The New York Times* first attacked Trump for even attempting a crackdown, and then criticized him for not targeting the “right neighborhoods.” Trump brushed off the handwringing, noting that the proof is in the results.

“The Other Side only appreciates strong, you understand,” Trump said, emphasizing that criminals respond only when confronted with real consequences. “They’ve done a great job — much quicker, in a certain sense, than we thought we were going to be doing it. But it’s complete. It’s amazing.”

Carjackings Down Nearly 90%

The numbers back him up. Trump noted that carjackings, once an everyday terror in D.C., are down 87 percent since the crackdown began. And he predicted even greater results in the weeks ahead: “Now, in two weeks, it’s going to be even better. I’m calling it — it’s a crime free zone now. People are going to restaurants that haven’t gone out in four years. They didn’t even want to go in their car because… you see, the carjacking is down 87%.”

A Model for Democrat Cities?

Trump has hinted that Chicago and New York could be next in line for a similar law-and-order surge. With citizens in those cities begging for relief from crime waves created by soft-on-crime leadership, the success in D.C. may provide a blueprint.

For now, Washington residents are enjoying something they haven’t felt in years: safety. And they have Trump’s unapologetic law-and-order approach to thank for it.
