Another day, another Hollywood liberal threatening to leave America because Donald Trump is president. This time it’s late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, who just revealed he obtained Italian citizenship and is mulling a move across the Atlantic. His reason? He’s terrified of President Trump.

Kimmel, 57, confessed on *The Sarah Silverman Podcast* that he’s “considering” leaving the country for good, claiming Trump’s America is so bad it’s worse than anyone could have imagined. “What’s going on is … as bad as you thought it was gonna be, it’s so much worse,” Kimmel moaned. “I feel like it’s probably even worse than [Trump] would like it to be.”

In other words, the multimillionaire comedian who makes his living sneering at half the country is now playing the victim.

His remarks came just days after Trump predicted that Kimmel and fellow liberal host Jimmy Fallon could be the next to lose their jobs following CBS’s cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s *Late Show*. Trump, never one to mince words, mocked the collapsing late-night ratings, saying, “Colbert has no talent… Fallon has no talent. Kimmel has no talent. They’re next.”

He’s not wrong. Once upon a time, late-night comedy was about humor and entertainment. Now, under the reign of people like Kimmel, it’s become a dreary nightly lecture filled with smug political monologues that chase away viewers. The ratings prove it — ordinary Americans simply aren’t tuning in anymore.

On the podcast, Kimmel tried to sound noble, saying he doesn’t “hold grudges” against former Trump supporters who may now disagree with the president’s policies, such as deportations. But his comments reek of elitism — as if working-class Americans need Jimmy Kimmel’s permission to change their political views.

Kimmel’s threat to flee follows a long Hollywood tradition: left-wing celebrities declaring they’ll leave the U.S. if Trump (or any Republican) takes office. During the 2016 election, stars like Whoopi Goldberg, Miley Cyrus, and Lena Dunham made the same promise. Spoiler alert: they’re still here. The grand exodus never happened.

If Kimmel actually follows through, many conservatives would say good riddance. After all, it’s telling that his “solution” to America’s problems isn’t rolling up his sleeves to improve the country but instead running away to a European villa. It’s the same tired playbook of wealthy elites who trash America while enjoying every freedom and luxury it provides.

Meanwhile, Trump has been unapologetic in his criticism of the failed late-night industry. He’s right that it hasn’t “worked” for years, because comedians like Kimmel traded jokes for politics, alienating half their audience. When your whole act is bashing Trump and conservatives, don’t be surprised when viewers tune out.

Kimmel says he already has Italian citizenship and could pack his bags any time. Perhaps he should. Unlike his monologues, at least that would finally get a laugh.
