The Bible Baptist Academy in DeQuincy, Louisiana denied admission to a five-year-old girl because her parents are both women—despite the fact that these loving parents give their daughter the best life they possibly can every single day. The school claims that being gay goes against its conservative Christian values; however, one could argue that showering a child with love and happiness is much more aligned with Jesus’ teachings than condemning someone for who they love.

The parents of a five-year-old girl were recently rejected from her kindergarten class because they are both women. The school official said that the lesbian parents didn’t comport with the school’s principles. Zoey Parker, a five-year-old girl, was thrown out of kindergarten just two days before classes were about to resume after being told she doesn’t fit in with the school’s values.

Zoey’s mothers, Emily (28) and Jennie Parker (31), are a same-sex couple who have been married since 2016. However, the Christian school’s director called a meeting on Saturday to voice their disapproval of the student’s family life just days before the start of the school year.

“They informed us that Zoey wouldn’t be able to go to school there anymore because of our lifestyle choices,” Jennie said.

Zoey is Emily’s niece, but her father tragically passed away in 2020. So, Emily and her spouse decided to adopt Zoey into their family. Unfortunately, after the Parkers adopted Zoey over the summer, Bible Baptist Academy–the school she previously attended for preschool–stated they were no longer interested in having Zoey as part of their enrollment.

After the Parkers’ fury became public, several Christian schools in their region immediately contacted to invite Zoey into their kindergarten class. This week, Zoey was enrolled at Hamilton Christian School in Lake Charles, where she will be able to receive a good Christian education despite the restrictive school’s efforts to prevent her from doing so.

“There are good Christians out there. The whole community of DeQuincy has shown us what it is to be a good Christian and to not preach hate like this,” Jennie said, “They are the reason why we kept the faith.”

Zoey’s father passed away in an industrial accident at work in 2020. Her mother is no longer in her life for unknown reasons. As a result, Zoey was adopted into the family of Emily, Zoey’s aunt, on August 3, 2022.

“She lost her father, she lost her mother, and now she’s losing her school, which she loves very much,” Jennie stated.

The Parkers were completely prepared for Zoey to attend Bible Baptist Academy, and they even bought her clothes. The school began behaving strangely toward the youngest student after the adoption was completed.

“The pastor met us in the meeting room and started talking about gender identification, and that they teach the words of the lord, and that marriage is between a man and a woman,” Emily stated, “And that they didn’t think this was a good fit.”
