Similar to everyone else, Kelly Osbourne’s weight loss journey is distinct. After battling with her appearance for most of her life, she decided to have gastric sleeve surgery in 2018. Since then, she has been extremely happy with the results. After the surgery, she rapidly lost weight and says it was the best decision of her life.
Not only did Osbourne have surgery, but she’s also kept the weight off by regularly eating a vegan diet and exercising. Previously, she didn’t have a great diet and hardly exercised. The constant stress of her weight really impacted her mood negatively.
“I was called fat and ugly in the press almost my entire life,” she said. “I understand that being judged by others comes with the territory, but it broke my heart and ruined my self-esteem. It sets you up to hate yourself in a huge way. I was so angry about the things people said about me.”
Osbourne’s weight loss journey began long before she had surgery. In 2009, she competed on Dancing With the Stars and lost 20 pounds by changing her lifestyle. It was then that her dance partner, Louis van Amstel, realized all the greasy food she ate every day not only kept her weight up but also impacted her mood negatively.
“I’d fill up on French fries and pizza all day and wonder why I wasn’t losing weight,” she stated. “In the very beginning, I kept getting sick during rehearsals because I was eating such terrible, fatty food and feeling so exhausted.”
With a few tips from her partner, she was able to finally lose weight. “I realized, ‘Oh, it’s true what they say: Diet and exercise really work!’” she stated.
After that, she’s had both good times and bad. She eventually found a personal trainer and joined a gym to help improve her health. It was helpful when she invited her friends to work out with her, as they held each other accountable. In 2018, she was finally able to become sober for a full year. “I have spent the past year truly working on my mind, body, and soul,” she said on Instagram. “I had to take a step out of the public eye away from work and give myself a chance to heal.”
Since first shedding the pounds, Osbourne has been able to keep up her weight loss and looks fabulous. In total, she’s lost 85 pounds. Osbourne not only achieved a slimmer waist, but fans have also taken notice of how much sharper her face and features look.
