Fitton dropped the bombshell in a post on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that during a federal court hearing, Department of Justice and FBI lawyers claimed they needed to “protect the privacy” of Obama and other high-profile Democrats caught up in the Rod Blagojevich scandal. Blagojevich, the disgraced former governor of Illinois, was convicted for attempting to sell Obama’s vacant U.S. Senate seat after the 2008 election.
According to Fitton, this latest courtroom revelation is part of a three-year legal battle Judicial Watch has waged to obtain FBI documents—specifically “302s,” or interview summaries—related to Obama, Valerie Jarrett, and Rahm Emanuel, all of whom were reportedly tied to Blagojevich’s corrupt scheming. Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit back in 2016 demanding access to these records, which the Justice Department has stubbornly withheld under the guise of “privacy.”
The case revolves around whether Obama or his team attempted to negotiate with Blagojevich over who would fill the Senate seat. Judicial Watch notes that while Obama “reportedly declined” a deal, Blagojevich moved on to negotiating with supporters of Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., offering the Senate seat in exchange for a \$1.5 million “campaign contribution.” The deal fell apart once Blagojevich realized federal investigators were listening in.
Now, thanks to Fitton’s efforts, we know that Judge Boasberg—an Obama appointee—appears to be the gatekeeper protecting these powerful Democrats from scrutiny. In a recent press conference, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called out Boasberg’s rogue activism: “He’s essentially trying to say the president doesn’t have the executive authority to deport foreign terrorists from our American soil. That is an egregious abuse of the bench.”
Leavitt pointed out what conservative Americans have long suspected: Boasberg is a political operative in robes. “He was appointed by Barack Obama. His wife has donated over \$10,000 to Democrats. This is not a neutral judge,” she said. “He has consistently shown his disdain for this president and his policies, and it’s unacceptable.”
Leavitt reaffirmed that President Trump will not back down: “Under the Alien Enemies Act, the president has this power, and the deportation campaign will continue.”
