Vice President JD Vance is making it clear — Republicans can no longer sit back and watch Democrats rig the political map through aggressive gerrymandering and inflated census counts that include illegal aliens. In a Sunday appearance on Fox Business’s *Sunday Morning Futures* with Maria Bartiromo, Vance urged GOP lawmakers, particularly in state legislatures, to push back hard and restore fairness to America’s elections.

The conversation came as Texas considers a redistricting plan that could flip Democrat-held seats, including Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s, and as President Trump and congressional Republicans work to end the practice of counting illegal aliens for House apportionment. Vance argued that this skewed system has been tipping the scales in favor of Democrats for years — and that Republicans must stop playing defense.

“The democratic system in this country is broken because who you vote for doesn’t necessarily get reflected in who your representatives are,” Vance told Bartiromo. He blasted the current setup, calling it “ridiculously unfair” that illegal aliens — who cannot vote — are still factored into congressional district maps, effectively giving blue states extra seats and more power in Washington.

Vance said the only way to fix it is to adopt a strategy that mirrors what Democrats have been doing for decades. “We’re just trying to rebalance the scales and frankly push back against a very unfair system created by the Democrats,” he said. “The only real way to fight back against it is for us to redistrict, in some ways, as aggressively as these hard blue states have done.”

He singled out California, Illinois, and New York as the worst offenders, describing their district maps as “crazy gerrymanders” designed to suppress Republican voters. “What it does is suppress the will of the people in states like Indiana,” Vance warned, noting that California — where Republicans routinely win about 40% of the statewide vote — only has 9 GOP members out of 52 in its congressional delegation. “How can this possibly be allowed?” he asked.

Vance also pointed out that Democrats have already maxed out their gerrymandering potential in deep-blue states, meaning Republicans have little to lose by fighting back. “There’s just not a whole lot of juice left out of that lemon,” he said. “The Democrats have already gone as far as they possibly can. You cannot gerrymander these far-left states anymore.”

His message is resonating with grassroots conservatives. Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk wrote, “He’s 100% right, and if we succeed in removing illegals from apportionment, they’re cooked. It’s well past time we fought fire with fire.” Political commentator Eric Daugherty added, “Things just got worse for Dems.”

The stakes are high. With control of Congress often decided by just a handful of seats, allowing Democrats to continue gaming the system could cement their power for years. Vance’s call is clear: Republicans must match Democratic ruthlessness with equal resolve — and finally give Americans a truly representative Congress.
