In an attempt to defend the judiciary’s repeated efforts to block President Trump’s policies, radical liberal Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) found herself caught in a moment of embarrassing hypocrisy during a recent House Judiciary Committee hearing. Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) quickly shut down Crockett’s emotional defense of left-wing judges, exposing her involvement in past efforts to impeach conservative Supreme Court justices.

The April 1 hearing, titled “Judicial Overreach & Constitutional Limits on the Federal Courts,” brought to light the growing frustration over judicial activism and the unchecked power of liberal judges. Rep. Crockett, in an impassioned plea, sought to portray Republicans as undermining the judiciary by holding judges accountable for their overreach. She warned of the “destruction” of the judiciary if Republicans continued to criticize activist judges.

Crockett’s remarks were laced with emotional rhetoric, as she argued that it was the courts’ responsibility to determine the legality of executive actions. “Which branch of government is responsible for interpreting what is and what is not legal? It’s the courts,” she proclaimed, distancing the judiciary from the other branches of government. Her implication was clear: the courts must have unchecked power to stop any actions from the President that they deem unconstitutional.

She continued with her fearmongering, painting President Trump as a dangerous leader who would strip away the nation’s institutions. “What is so frustrating for so many of the American people… is because what we see right now is a diminishing of all these institutions,” Crockett lamented. She claimed the American people had no recourse but the judiciary, accusing Congress of abandoning its duty to “check” the President’s power.

As if this wasn’t enough, she then attempted to create a chilling scenario, suggesting that if President Trump were allowed to act without judicial oversight, the nation would spiral into chaos. “Imagine the type of world where the President does whatever he wants and no one can rein him in,” Crockett warned. To drive her point home, she pointed to the hypothetical example of Joe Biden issuing an executive order on abortion, ignoring the Supreme Court’s ruling, which she claimed would be unacceptable.

But it was Rep. Darrell Issa who stole the spotlight, swiftly dismantling Crockett’s argument with a single, pointed remark. Issa reminded the committee that Crockett had previously co-sponsored articles of impeachment against conservative Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, alongside fellow liberal Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). Issa’s brilliant rebuttal exposed the glaring hypocrisy of Crockett’s position: she had no qualms about undermining the judiciary when it was conservatives in the crosshairs.

Issa’s response, “It does seem interesting that when the shoe is on the other foot, everyone is self-righteous,” drew laughter from the committee, further silencing Crockett. The Texas Democrat attempted to interrupt, but Issa waved her off dismissively and continued, “I have had to listen to one side talking about impeachment as though it was the nature of this hearing. It is not.”

Crockett’s sudden silence spoke volumes. Her impassioned defense of the judiciary was thoroughly undermined by her own history of attempting to strip conservative justices of their positions. The contrast between her strong words and her actions was glaring, making her claims about preserving judicial integrity ring hollow.

Her participation in the impeachment efforts led by far-left figures like AOC demonstrated that when the left’s favored justices are under scrutiny, they are quick to abandon any respect for the Constitution or the rule of law. Crockett’s hypocrisy, exposed for all to see, only further demonstrates the radical left’s willingness to use the judiciary as a political weapon when it suits their agenda.
