The recent case that made headlines was a controversial video posted by Charli D’ Amelio, a young teenager allegedly during her vacay in the Bahamas.

Roasting begins
When her papa innocently filmed Charli showcasing her prowess in dancing, the negative aftermath did not come close to his imagination.

What started as swift moves to “sugar” by Brockhampton, attracted en masse a host of negative comments and critics, as the video seemed not to auger well with some “moral- cops.”

With some questioning the moral degree of Charli due to explicit content of the song, others appeared annoyed by her age factor in the ensuing exchange of words that seemed relentless.

Charli Fires Back
Armed with a bucket-load of responses, Charli would not go down without a fight. Unlike many shaming victims, she chose not to hide or deactivate her account but rather face the terror head-on.

A comment by Perez Hilton, “Anyone else thinks it’s inappropriate for a 15-year-old to dance to this?” referring to the song in question did not settle well with her, as she immediately fired back in defiance saying ” I’m sorry I’m just trying to have fun!”.

Annoyed by the constant trolls, Charli emerged enraged, saying she’ll continually post when happy and confident, and whoever feels offended should “suck” it!!

She is later quoted tweeting needing time to “breathe” after a series of messages majority being body-shaming texts citing the urgent need to respect people’s bodies.

Support from Family and Friends
Backed by close friends, Charli got a soft landing, especially after her buddies turned to her defence. Cognizant of the damage caused by the negative trolls, her father Marc couldn’t help but worry. In an excerpt from his interview with the Daily Campus, Marc is quoted saying, “we’ve talked to a lot of people who have had not only long term notoriety but also instant fame.”

His worries seemed propagated by the fact that her teenage daughter was inexperienced, vulnerable and the event that the video was attracting a lot of backlash interfering with the teen’s private life.

Appearing unamused by the hate meted against her beloved daughter, He vowed to take legal action against the bullies who flooded negative comments on her daughter.

Suffering from the same fate was Madi Monroe, a friend, who as well got his serving of negativities. Together on the same vacation, Madi also posted her bikini dancing video resulting in backlash from netizens.

Supported by her fiancée, Monroe confessed how the comments shuttered her spirit, with Charli retaliating in an astounding response.
