In a deeply disturbing interview this week, far-left “Squad” Congresswoman Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) went on the offensive, targeting Charlie Kirk’s widowed wife, Erika Kirk, and doubling down on her previous vile comparisons of the slain conservative activist to Dr. Frankenstein.

Appearing on CNN’s *The Source* with Kaitlin Collins, Omar was asked whether Democrats should exercise caution in their rhetoric as Kirk’s family mourned his brutal assassination. President Obama had recently urged grace, noting that while Kirk’s ideas might be wrong, grieving families deserved respect. But Omar’s response demonstrated a shocking lack of empathy.

“Yes. I extend grace to his wife and kids. I cannot imagine what they are going through,” Omar began, but immediately pivoted to a vicious attack. “The reality is that his wife sat by him as he said those things and did not tell him that these are human beings you are calling garbage, who you are saying they don’t have the brain power because they were born in a different skin color.”

In other words, Omar suggested without evidence that both Charlie and Erika Kirk were racists who demeaned non-white Americans — a claim that smears a grieving widow while her family is still processing the loss of her husband.

Omar continued, insisting that Kirk should never be regarded as a hero. “Like, I do not understand how we are okay as a society with people who say that about our fellow Americans, a fellow human being, and regard them as a hero. I’m sorry, I don’t see it,” she said, doubling down on her false narrative.

Throughout the interview, Omar repeatedly tried to shift the conversation away from her offensive remarks by pivoting to gun violence, despite the fact that Kirk was killed with a hunting rifle — a weapon that nearly no mainstream gun control measure would restrict. “I put out a tweet right when he was killed that political violence is wrong and that we should work everything within our power to end gun violence in this country,” she claimed, attempting to mask her own incendiary commentary.

When Collins pressed her on the reality that numerous leftists had openly celebrated Kirk’s assassination — a key factor in why some were fired — Omar deflected. “I haven’t seen that. I’ve just seen people sharing his words,” she said, further ignoring the avalanche of online celebrations of his death and leaving viewers to wonder how she could so casually dismiss the reprehensible behavior of her political allies.

Omar’s brazen attacks on Erika Kirk, combined with her repeated falsehoods about Kirk’s character, reveal a staggering level of callousness. In a moment when decency and basic humanity should prevail, Omar chose instead to weaponize grief, smear a widow, and peddle political talking points under the guise of “grace.”

Conservatives have condemned Omar’s remarks as an example of the radical left’s willingness to exploit tragedy for political gain. By attacking Kirk’s family while ignoring the documented celebration of his murder by fellow progressives, Omar once again highlights the double standard and moral hypocrisy that has become commonplace in the Democratic Party.

Charlie Kirk’s death was a national tragedy, and his widow and children deserve respect — not the venomous attacks of a career politician seeking to score ideological points. Omar’s comments, made on national television, underscore the toxic rhetoric now permeating Washington and the media, and why the American people are increasingly skeptical of the left’s claims to compassion and justice.
