Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), one of the most radical members of the far-left “Squad,” is once again taking aim at the country that gave her refuge, freedom, and a seat in Congress—this time calling the United States “one of the worst countries” in the world.
Yes, you read that right. The same woman who fled a Somali dictatorship, received asylum here, and now enjoys a taxpayer-funded salary and platform to spew anti-American rhetoric, has the audacity to claim that the U.S.—the greatest nation on Earth—is somehow on par with authoritarian regimes.

In an interview posted Friday on the leftist propaganda channel *Democracy Now!*, Omar launched into a tirade over a military parade held to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army. The parade, which took place on June 14, was a patriotic celebration falling on Flag Day and President Trump’s 79th birthday—two things Omar seems to loathe in equal measure.
“I mean, I grew up in a dictatorship,” she said, “and I don’t even remember ever witnessing anything like that… to now be turned into one of the worst countries, where the military are in our streets without any regard for people’s constitutional rights.”
Let’s be clear: the military was not occupying the streets. There was a ceremonial parade—an event to honor the men and women who’ve sacrificed everything for our freedom. But that’s what passes for “tyranny” in Omar’s world.

Omar then accused President Trump of trying to prop himself up “like a failed dictator” and said the parade was “shocking,” claiming, “this is not the country we believe in… our Founding Fathers imagined…” Apparently, paying tribute to the Army that won our independence and preserved it through generations is now considered fascism by the far left.
Of course, she couldn’t resist blaming Trump for “destroying our country,” despite his consistent calls for peace through strength, border security, and restoring American greatness. Omar declared that Americans should be “in the streets rejecting” what she sees as a betrayal of our values—though she offered no such outrage over open borders, rising crime, or the erosion of parental rights.

Omar’s comments drew swift condemnation from conservatives. Fox News contributor Guy Benson called out her “appalling hyperbole” and “astounding ingratitude.” David Hookstead of OutKick didn’t hold back either, reminding readers that “our men died to try to protect innocent lives in Somalia,” and that “we shouldn’t ever apologize” for showcasing the world’s most powerful military.
Let’s be honest—this is nothing new from Rep. Omar. Whether it’s downplaying 9/11 as “some people did something,” or aligning herself with anti-Israel extremists, Omar has built a career on undermining American values while reaping all the benefits of the system she claims to despise.
If Ilhan Omar truly believes the United States is “one of the worst countries,” perhaps she should take a long, hard look at the freedoms she enjoys here—freedoms she would never have known had she remained in the very dictatorship she once fled.
