Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, already infamous for his disastrous leadership during the 2020 George Floyd riots, is once again putting far-left politics above public safety. In a recent rally that looked more like a progressive pep rally than serious governance, Frey stood shoulder-to-shoulder with radical Rep. Ilhan Omar to announce that Minneapolis would proudly defy federal immigration law—declaring the city a “safe haven” for illegal immigrants and transgender individuals.

The March 21st announcement, captured and shared by *Libs of TikTok*, set social media ablaze as conservatives tore into Frey for prioritizing non-citizens and radical social causes over the hardworking residents of his crumbling city.

“Minneapolis will continue to be a safe haven for undocumented immigrants, for our trans community,” Frey told a cheering crowd. “Regardless of who you are or where you come from, Minneapolis is a place where you should be proud to call home.”

To many Americans, especially those paying attention to Minneapolis’ rising crime rates, collapsing housing market, and economic malaise, Frey’s comments were nothing short of a slap in the face.

Let’s not forget: this is the same Jacob Frey who sat idly by as his city burned during the 2020 riots. Under his “leadership,” police precincts were overrun, violent crime exploded, and law-abiding citizens were left to fend for themselves. Now, he’s doubling down on the same failed far-left policies—only this time, he’s proudly promising to shelter those who broke into the country illegally.

The backlash came swiftly and fiercely.

“Minneapolis currently has the highest distressed loan rates in the country,” one commenter noted under the viral *Libs of TikTok* post. “Residents are defaulting on their homes because of this man’s progressive agenda.”

Others pointed to the legality—or lack thereof—of Frey’s stance. “Facilitating foreign invasion is the literal definition of treason,” another wrote. And then there’s Rep. Ilhan Omar, herself no stranger to controversy. “She should be in jail for immigration fraud,” one post declared. The crowd seemed less like a political rally and more like a gathering of officials actively working against American interests.

And Minnesotans are feeling the consequences.

Once affectionately called the “Mini Apple,” Minneapolis is now being described by former residents as “a shell of its former self.” One lifelong Minnesotan commented, “If you have a work ethic and any sense of morality, I highly recommend leaving as soon as you can.”

But amidst the outrage, some commenters found a silver lining. “This is great,” one wrote sarcastically. “Let them all flood into Minneapolis. Concentrate the problem. Red states should send their illegals there and let Frey foot the bill.”

Unfortunately, the reality isn’t so humorous. What Mayor Frey is doing isn’t just tone-deaf—it’s dangerous. While millions of Americans are struggling with inflation, rising crime, and housing insecurity, Frey and his ilk are making Minneapolis a magnet for lawbreakers and fringe social experiments.

If Minneapolis is the left’s vision for America’s future, voters nationwide would do well to pay attention—and make sure it never spreads beyond the city limits.
