In South Carolina, a gun owner used his second amendment rights to fire warning shots after witnessing two robbers attempting to steal his automobile. Because the South Carolina homeowner wanted to warn the men off, he fired two shots in order to let them know that he was serious and hopefully scare them away from his car. The warning shots, on the other hand, did not deter the suspects; instead, they turned their fury on the South Carolina man who is now claimed to have been murdered as a result of it.

Brandon Meyers, 20, and Bobby Cason, 17, have been charged with first-degree murder and attempted grand larceny. When the homeowner approached the suspects with his weapon intending to use it to scare off the robbers, the incident spun out of control and escalated into a confrontation outside the victim’s home.

According to police, the suspects had obtained the keys to the victim’s vehicle from a prior break-in. The homeowner fired two warning shots into the air in order to scare away passers-by. However, this did not work as planned.

After the warning shots were fired, one of the suspects returned fire and shot the South Carolina victim with a bullet. The homeowner was then allegedly shot by one of the suspects after which both Meyers and Cason reportedly ran away from the scene.

“Responding officers heard gunfire as they approached the location and saw the suspect vehicle roll backward into a yard then flee the scene,” said Spencer Pryor from the North Charleston Police Department.

The identity of the wounded person has not been disclosed, but police did say that when they arrived at the scene, the homeowner was found with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on arrival by the first responders.

“The suspects fled the area, eluding police and eventually crashing into several cars in the Forest Hills 2 neighborhood before being captured,” Pryor stated.

The victim was shot and killed, after which the suspects attempted to flee the scene in a car. In their haste, they crashed into several other vehicles before being apprehended by police. Both suspects were thought to be involved in the violence and were quickly handcuffed.

“It’s terrifying,” affirmed Brendan Everett, who resides in the area. “But as I said, it’s very quiet here … and it was just really frightening.”

“We were just sitting and watching TV. It’s Sunday night,” said one neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous. “And we heard a whole bunch of noise outside.”

Both suspects have been charged with murder and attempted grand larceny in connection to the killing.

This robbery resulted in the death of the homeowner, which serves as a reminder that homeowners need to be vigilant about their security. It also emphasizes that crime can occur anywhere – even in seemingly safe neighborhoods.
