Hollywood heavyweight Mel Gibson is once again refusing to stay silent — and this time, he’s setting his sights on the far-left chaos plaguing California. In a scathing video posted to social media on June 16, the legendary actor and director unloaded on Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for their latest failure: a weak, politically correct response to violent anti-ICE protests that have roiled the streets of Los Angeles since early June.

A longtime Los Angeles resident and vocal critic of progressive overreach, Gibson didn’t mince words. “Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass have already proven their incompetence and poor leadership during the Los Angeles wildfires,” he said, referencing the catastrophic fires that raged through Southern California for much of January. “And now, they’re standing by as our communities descend into lawlessness.”

The protests, sparked by the Biden administration’s resistance to enforcing immigration law — and fueled by the radical left’s open-border agenda — have disrupted neighborhoods, endangered ICE officers, and triggered renewed fears over public safety in one of America’s largest cities. Yet California’s Democrat leaders, as usual, are missing in action.

In his video, Gibson painted a clear picture of the state’s current condition: “Rampant lawlessness and civil unrest.” He then posed the question so many fed-up Californians have been asking: *Why are Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass still in office?* “How much more of their destructive decision-making masquerading as leadership are we going to tolerate?” he asked pointedly.

Gibson, no stranger to controversy or courage, called on fellow Californians to finally push back against the corrupt machine that’s been running the state into the ground. “It’s time to take back our community and our state,” he said. “Put the power and the privilege in the hands of competent leaders — ones who will actually protect us and defend the way of life this nation was founded upon.”

This viral moment comes just months after President Trump tapped Gibson, along with fellow patriotic entertainers Jon Voight and Sylvester Stallone, to serve as his “eyes and ears” in Hollywood — an industry that has lost its way and much of its business to foreign competitors thanks to left-wing cultural rot and runaway regulation.

In his Truth Social announcement, Trump declared the trio his “special envoys” to help bring back the Golden Age of Hollywood. “These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears,” the President wrote, “and I will get done what they suggest.”

Gibson, ever the straight shooter, responded with classic wit: “I got the tweet at the same time as all of you and was just as surprised. Nevertheless, I heed the call. My duty as a citizen is to give any help and insight I can,” adding with a chuckle, “Any chance the position comes with an ambassador’s residence?”

In an industry — and a state — that too often rewards virtue-signaling over virtue, Mel Gibson remains a breath of fresh air. He’s one of the few still willing to call out the rot, name names, and remind America what real leadership and patriotism look like. Californians would do well to listen.
