Viewers of *The Five* were treated to fireworks after Tarlov clashed with Greg Gutfeld over President Trump’s common-sense plan to send the National Guard into crime-ridden cities—a move that has Democrats panicking, but one that millions of Americans support.
The discussion erupted when Tarlov tried to lecture Gutfeld and the other conservatives on the panel, accusing them of “hypocrisy” for backing Trump’s deployment of Guard units. Trump recently ordered thousands of troops into Washington, D.C., and has warned that Democrat-controlled disaster zones like Chicago and New York could be next if mayors fail to protect their citizens.
According to Tarlov, conservatives would be “outraged” if former President Barack Obama had taken similar action. “Let’s say that a Democrat was deploying the National Guard to cities controlled by Republicans,” she snapped, before accusing Trump of “shaking down private businesses” and demanding cuts of their profits.
Gutfeld didn’t take the bait. Instead, he calmly responded that he supports Trump’s efforts to restore order and protect American families—and that he wouldn’t care which president did it, so long as it worked. Tarlov, visibly frustrated, shot back, “Yes, you would!” and accused him of being a “bad constitutionalist.”
The exchange escalated as she rattled off hypotheticals about a Democrat president controlling museums, universities, and even private companies. Gutfeld dismissed her doomsday scenarios as a “dystopian universe,” drawing laughter from his colleagues. That’s when Tarlov lost her cool.
“They’re saying, ‘Sorry, we have to go,’ but you know that if a Democratic president was doing any of these things you would be irate!” she ranted, growing more agitated as the segment wound down.
Gutfeld hit back with one of his signature jabs, reminding her that she can’t read his mind. “You can’t read my mind,” he repeated, as Tarlov insisted she “knew him well enough” to guess his thoughts. Gutfeld, twisting the knife, joked that her insistence was a “typical chick” move—pretending to know what a man is thinking and using it against him.
