Most people are well aware that store owners don’t like it when people come in who aren’t prepared to pay for anything. However, a store owner named Hemani has gained notoriety for being far more observant of the situation than most store owners. However, his attentiveness didn’t manifest in the way most people would assume. Hemani was instead paying close attention to poor customers due to the fact that he was moved by their plight. The town of Lake Fork is situated close to Dallas. It’s known as a great spot to relax and fish. However, it’s also a town where unemployment has taken a toll. It’d ideally be quite rare for anyone to find himself skipping meals on a regular basis. However, there’s one thing that hurts most people’s hearts even more. That’s seeing an entire family in such a situation. Hemani saw a family drive up to his Start Mart location. It was clear that they didn’t have enough money to feed everyone. It’s easy to imagine the desperation a parent must feel when searching for any food to feed his or her children. Hemani saw the kids sitting in the car and knew he had to do something. He was moved to action by the children quite literally crying due to their hunger.
Many people wouldn’t know what to do in that situation. But Hemani isn’t just anyone. He’s a man that people are now recognizing as a bastion of compassion. This became quite obvious due to the powerful action that this store owner proceeded to put into effect. Thankfully, Hemani’s gas station had more food on hand than many others locations. He didn’t just have bagged chips and the like. Hemani had the ability to cook up some tasty pizza as well. And that’s exactly what he set out to do for the family. Before they knew it the family had been presented with piping hot pizza made especially for them. Hemani notes that he’s never had to go hungry before. And he certainly didn’t grow up in a situation where he had to face that as a child. However, he also notes that people don’t need to grow up in a situation like that to understand how rough it’d be. Hemani didn’t want anyone to go through that if it could be avoided. All of that would be an admirable sentiment in and of itself. But what makes Hemani’s stance so amazing is both his reasoning and what followed afterward.
Hemani wanted Texans to know that he’s there for people in need. The community obviously means a lot to him, and he’s willing to put himself out there to help the people within it. Hemani knew he wanted to do more to help people in need. And at that point, Hemani stumbled on a YouTube video that changed his life. He noted that the video was documenting a location offering free food for people who really needed it. This prompted Hemani to put out a sign stating that he’ll give a sandwich and a bottle of water to anyone who lacks either money or a job. It’s also clear that people are using rather than abusing that stance. He’s been giving out around six sandwiches per week to those in need of a good meal. Hemani stands as an inspirational example of someone looking for poor people loitering in his store. Unlike most store owners, he’s happy to invite them in to share a meal.
