A fiery political feud is escalating on Capitol Hill as Florida Republican Rep. Randy Fine unloaded on Minnesota Democrat Ilhan Omar during a recent television appearance, accusing her of undermining American values and calling for consequences that go far beyond partisan politics.

Speaking on Newsmax, Fine made clear he has little patience left for the progressive congresswoman, who has long been a lightning rod for conservatives over her criticism of U.S. foreign policy, immigration, and American institutions.

“Ilhan Omar is a walking example of everything that is wrong with our legal immigration policy,” Fine said during the interview, arguing that the immigration system should prioritize newcomers who embrace American values and contribute to society.

The Florida lawmaker’s comments came during a heated discussion with host Lidia Curanaj about immigration, government spending, and growing concerns over fraud tied to taxpayer-funded programs. Fine also revealed he is exploring political options in response to what he described as repeated attacks from Omar, including fundraising emails in which she criticized him and reportedly called for his removal from Congress.

“I’m actively considering” forcing a vote related to Omar’s congressional status, Fine said, escalating what has quickly become one of the more explosive personal feuds in Washington.

The clash also comes amid renewed scrutiny surrounding Medicaid and welfare fraud investigations in states with large Somali populations — particularly in Minnesota, where federal and state authorities have uncovered major fraud schemes in recent years.

Conservatives have increasingly pointed to those cases as evidence that government oversight has failed and that taxpayer-funded programs are vulnerable to abuse. Critics on the right argue that elected officials have not taken fraud seriously enough, particularly in communities where politically sensitive concerns often discourage tougher scrutiny.

Former President Donald Trump has also weighed in repeatedly on Omar and broader immigration concerns, sharply criticizing both the congresswoman and what he says are failures in vetting and oversight.

In recent remarks, Trump blasted Omar as deeply critical of America and questioned whether lawmakers who frequently condemn the country should continue to hold influence in government. He also referenced reports of large-scale fraud schemes tied to taxpayer-funded programs, arguing that ordinary Americans are footing the bill.

Omar, for her part, has strongly rejected those criticisms.

Responding to Trump and other conservatives, the Minnesota Democrat accused critics of singling out Somali-Americans unfairly and warned that rhetoric targeting immigrant communities can inflame tensions.

“These are Americans that he is calling garbage,” Omar said in response to prior criticism, adding that she believes there has been an “unhealthy obsession” with both her and the Somali community.

The broader debate reflects a growing divide in American politics over immigration, assimilation, and government accountability.

Many conservatives argue that the conversation is not about ethnicity or nationality but about whether public officials and immigration systems are serving American interests first — especially as fraud investigations continue to expose weaknesses in federal programs.

At the same time, Democrats and immigration advocates warn against broad-brush rhetoric that risks unfairly stigmatizing entire communities based on the actions of individuals accused of wrongdoing.

One thing is certain: with immigration poised to remain a defining issue heading into the next election cycle, the increasingly bitter showdown between Randy Fine and Ilhan Omar is unlikely to cool down anytime soon.
