In yet another example of America’s crumbling food safety oversight, more than 212,000 pounds of liquid egg products are being recalled nationwide due to potential contamination with sodium hypochlorite, a powerful cleaning chemical. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued the recall on Friday, exposing yet another failure in the food supply chain that hardworking Americans depend on.
The producer responsible for this alarming recall is Cargill Kitchen Solutions, based in Lake Odessa, Michigan. The affected products were manufactured on March 12 and 13, 2025, and distributed across multiple states, including Ohio, Texas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, and Iowa—with the potential that they have spread nationwide.
This means millions of Americans could have unknowingly purchased and consumed contaminated products while corporations and regulators drag their feet.
The recalled liquid egg products have the number “G1804” printed on the carton. According to the recall notice, these potentially hazardous products were shipped to major distributors and food service providers. That means contaminated eggs could have already been used in countless meals served in restaurants, hotels, hospitals, and schools.
FSIS admits that it received a tip-off about the contamination—raising more questions than answers. Was this an isolated incident, or just the latest example of government agencies turning a blind eye until it’s too late?
Despite the shocking nature of the recall, FSIS is attempting to downplay the risk, classifying it as a “Class III recall”—which they claim is only a “marginal risk.” Their official statement attempts to reassure the public, saying, “FSIS scientists concluded that use of this product should not cause adverse health consequences, or the risk is negligible.”
But consumers aren’t buying it. Why should Americans trust the same agencies that let these tainted products hit store shelves in the first place?
No illnesses have been reported yet, but that doesn’t mean the risk is zero. Consumers are being urged to immediately check their refrigerators and freezers for the contaminated egg products and dispose of them or return them to the store.
Cargill Kitchen Solutions, the company behind the recall, was quick to spin the story, claiming they are acting “out of an abundance of caution.” In a statement to Fox News Digital, Cargill reassured consumers that the USDA has declared the product safe and that no reported illnesses have occurred.
But the fact remains: 212,000 pounds of food contaminated with cleaning chemicals were allowed into the marketplace.
For consumers looking for more details, Cargill has set up a consumer hotline, but many are left wondering whether corporate PR statements and government bureaucracy can truly be trusted when it comes to the safety of our food.
The following products are included in the recall:
– Egg Beaters Original Liquid Egg Substitute – Use by AUG 10, 2025
– Egg Beaters Cage-Free Original Liquid Egg Substitute – Use by AUG 09, 2025
– Egg Beaters Cage-Free Frozen Egg Substitute – Use by MAR 07, 2026
– Bob Evans Better’n Eggs Made with Real Egg Whites – Use by AUG 10, 2025
This recall is just the latest example of how corporate irresponsibility and government incompetence are putting Americans at risk. With major food producers cutting corners and regulatory agencies asleep at the wheel, how many more contaminated products are slipping through the cracks?
While elites in Washington dine on farm-to-table meals, regular Americans are left wondering whether the food on their plate is safe to eat. Will anyone be held accountable? Or will this story disappear like so many others?
