Tom Homan, former ICE director and now a Trump-appointed border czar, confirmed in an interview with conservative commentator Benny Johnson on June 30, 2025, that the Department of Justice is actively digging into these serious allegations. The investigation centers on reports that a criminal alien working for AOC fled the country as authorities closed in—a stunning revelation given the sensitive nature of congressional work and the national security implications.
Johnson, addressing Homan, highlighted two troubling issues: “First, the fact that AOC had a criminal alien on her congressional staff who fled as soon as you regained your position as Border Czar. How is it possible that someone who is unlawfully present in the country—and a criminal at that—was allowed to work in Congress, with access to classified and sensitive information?”
The second controversy raised was just as troubling: “AOC and some of her colleagues in the Squad have publicly taught illegal aliens how to avoid ICE raids, essentially encouraging people to break federal law.” Johnson pressed Homan to explain how such blatant violations could be tolerated in the heart of American government.
