Elon Musk isn’t backing down from the culture warriors in Sacramento — especially when they drag his family into their political games.

The latest flare-up came after California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s press office took a cheap and deeply personal shot at the Tesla and SpaceX CEO, openly mocking him by claiming his estranged transgender child “hates” him. The jab was posted in response to a clip shared by Musk’s America PAC highlighting Newsom bragging about signing more radical “gender-affirming” laws than any other governor in the country.

“We’re sorry your daughter hates you, Elon,” Newsom’s press shop sneered on social media — a comment that many Americans viewed as not just unprofessional, but cruel.

Musk responded swiftly and forcefully, refusing to let a Democratic governor use his family as political ammunition. “I assume you’re referring to my son, Xavier,” Musk wrote, pushing back on the narrative promoted by Newsom and the activist press.

Musk didn’t mince words about what he believes happened. He described his son as suffering from a “tragic mental illness caused by the evil woke mind virus you push on vulnerable children,” directly blaming progressive gender ideology promoted by politicians like Newsom. Despite the rift, Musk made it clear his feelings haven’t changed. “I love Xavier very much and hope he recovers,” he wrote.

The billionaire also corrected the record after Newsom’s office appeared to weaponize one strained relationship to smear him as a father. Musk emphasized that his other children — Azure, Exa (known as “Y”), and Arcadia — “do indeed love me very much.”

Vivian Jenna Wilson, formerly known as Xavier Musk, legally changed her name and gender in California in 2022 and formally severed ties with her father, filing paperwork stating she no longer wished to be associated with him “in any way, shape or form.” Musk has previously said he was misled by doctors and activists into consenting to the transition when his child was just 16 — a claim that has resonated with many parents alarmed by the speed and secrecy of gender medicalization.

Wilson has since become a darling of the left-wing media ecosystem, repeatedly attacking Musk online and branding him “cartoonishly evil” while enjoying glowing coverage from outlets like Teen Vogue, which recently put her on its cover. She has also claimed to be financially independent — and “broke” — despite cutting ties with the richest man in the world.

What’s striking isn’t just the family dispute, but how eagerly Democratic officials like Gavin Newsom are willing to exploit it for political points. Rather than defend parents navigating complex and painful family situations, Newsom’s team chose to gloat — revealing once again how far the modern left has fallen when it comes to basic decency.

For Musk, the clash underscores a broader battle he’s been waging against what he calls the “woke mind virus” — an ideology he argues is harming children, dividing families, and silencing dissent. For Newsom, it may prove to be another example of political arrogance that plays well on social media but alienates everyday Americans who still believe family struggles should be off-limits to partisan attacks.

One thing is clear: Elon Musk isn’t afraid to fight back — especially when the left comes after his family.
