The war against the Deep State is officially underway. President Donald Trump isn’t wasting any time in his second term, taking swift action to root out the entrenched bureaucrats who worked tirelessly to undermine him during his first presidency. In a bold move, the Trump Department of Justice has fired several prosecutors who played key roles in the politically motivated lawfare against him.
On Monday, January 27, the Department of Justice announced that it had dismissed a number of career officials involved in the now-disgraced prosecution efforts led by Special Counsel Jack Smith. Smith, who brought flimsy and highly controversial charges against President Trump, resigned in disgrace after Trump’s landslide election victory, and now his allies at the DOJ are being shown the door as well.
A DOJ official confirmed the firings in a statement to NBC News, saying, **“Today, Acting Attorney General James McHenry terminated the employment of a number of DOJ officials who played a significant role in prosecuting President Trump.”**
The move was justified, the official explained, because these individuals had demonstrated that they could not be trusted to uphold the president’s America First agenda. **“In light of their actions, the Acting Attorney General does not trust these officials to assist in faithfully implementing the President’s agenda. This action is consistent with the mission of ending the weaponization of government,”** the statement read.
According to a memo obtained by the *Washington Post*, Acting Attorney General McHenry wrote to those dismissed, saying bluntly: **“Given your significant role in prosecuting the president, I do not believe that the leadership of the department can trust you to assist in implementing the president’s agenda faithfully.”**
These firings mark a major step in Trump’s broader efforts to dismantle the political weaponization of the federal government—an effort he made clear on **Day One** of his return to the Oval Office. In an executive order addressing government weaponization, Trump declared:
**“The American people have witnessed the previous administration engage in a systematic campaign against its perceived political opponents, weaponizing the legal force of numerous Federal law enforcement agencies and the Intelligence Community against those perceived political opponents in the form of investigations, prosecutions, civil enforcement actions, and other related actions.”**
He further pointed out that these actions had nothing to do with actual justice but were instead designed **“to inflict political pain”** and silence dissent. Trump specifically called out the Biden administration for abusing federal law enforcement to **target parents protesting at school board meetings, conservatives speaking out against leftist policies, and individuals merely exercising their constitutional rights.**
Perhaps most damningly, the executive order exposed the blatant hypocrisy in the justice system under Biden: **“The Department of Justice even jailed an individual for posting a political meme. And while the Department of Justice has ruthlessly prosecuted more than 1,500 individuals associated with January 6, it simultaneously dropped nearly all cases against BLM rioters.”**
This new order establishes a process to **hold accountable** those who weaponized the government against the American people. The message is clear: under President Trump, the days of politically motivated witch hunts are over. The DOJ is being cleaned out, and those who corrupted it for partisan gain are finally facing the consequences.
America First is back—and the Deep State is officially on notice.
