In a stunning and sobering new report, the Department of Homeland Security has confirmed what conservatives have been warning for years: unhinged anti-law-enforcement rhetoric from Democrat “sanctuary” politicians is fueling a dangerous, unprecedented wave of violence against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
According to DHS, assaults on ICE officers have exploded by a jaw-dropping **1,153%** compared to the same period last year under Joe Biden — a spike directly tied to the left’s demonization of the men and women tasked with enforcing America’s immigration laws.
The DHS report, bluntly titled **“Sanctuary Politicians’ Rhetoric Fuels More Than 1,150% Increase in Violence Against ICE Law Enforcement,”** paints a disturbing picture of what happens when elected officials compare federal law enforcement officers to Nazis, Gestapo units, and slave patrols.
The department notes that between January 21 and November 21 of 2024, there were only 19 reported assaults on ICE officers — already unacceptable. But during the same period in 2025? **A staggering 238 attacks.** That includes everything from spitting and biting to **attempted murder**, vehicle rammings, open gunfire, and even **Molotov cocktails** thrown at federal agents.
These are not random acts of violence. DHS makes it clear: ICE personnel are being targeted *because of their badge* and *because they enforce the law*.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin didn’t mince words about who’s responsible:
“After months of Democrat politicians comparing ICE to Nazis, the Gestapo, slave patrols, and even encouraging illegal aliens to resist arrest, our brave ICE law enforcement have been assaulted 238 times.”
The consequences of that reckless rhetoric are now undeniable. ICE agents — the very people who remove violent criminals, traffickers, gang members, and extremists from American communities — are dodging bullets, rocks, and firebombs while simply doing their jobs.
McLaughlin continued:
“Our law enforcement officers have had Molotov cocktails and rocks thrown at them, been shot at, had cars used as weapons against them, and been physically assaulted. Sanctuary politicians need to tone the rhetoric down before a law enforcement officer is killed.”
The message could not be clearer: Democrats’ performative, hate-filled attacks on ICE aren’t “compassion.” They’re incitement.
For years, sanctuary-city mayors and hard-left members of Congress have demonized ICE as villains rather than heroes. They have encouraged resistance, protected criminal illegal aliens, and painted law enforcement as the bad guys — all while ICE officers continue arresting rapists, child predators, cartel affiliates, and terrorists making their way into U.S. communities.
McLaughlin ended the statement with a reminder Democrats desperately need to hear:
“These officers should be thanked — not targeted — for risking their lives every single day to arrest pedophiles, rapists, murderers, gang members, and terrorists.”
But instead of gratitude, ICE has been met with hatred — and now unprecedented violence.
The numbers speak for themselves. The left’s sanctuary-city rhetoric isn’t “progress.” It’s poisoning public perception, endangering federal agents, and emboldening criminals.
And unless Democrats put an end to the incendiary attacks they’ve normalized, it won’t be long before this violence turns fatal.
