The gloves are off in Virginia’s increasingly heated governor’s race — and the Republican Governors Association (RGA) just made a major move to back conservative favorite Winsome Earle-Sears with a $1.5 million investment, countering the Democratic Governors Association’s $5 million war chest for far-left Democrat Abigail Spanberger.

The RGA’s financial push comes as Virginia Democrats are reeling from a political scandal that’s rocked the state. Jay Jones, the Democratic nominee for attorney general, was exposed for sending vile text messages in 2022 comparing a GOP lawmaker to mass murderers — and then going so far as to advocate for the killing of his political opponents. The disgusting revelations have drawn widespread outrage and cast a dark cloud over the entire Democrat ticket.

“This race isn’t about Republicans versus Democrats,” said Peyton Vogel, a spokesperson for the Earle-Sears campaign. “It’s common sense versus violence.”

That statement couldn’t be more accurate. While Democrats try to downplay Jones’ twisted comments, Virginians are seeing a disturbing pattern — a party so consumed with hatred that it’s now normalizing threats of violence against conservatives.

Instead of addressing the controversy, the Democratic Governors Association tried to deflect blame, attacking Earle-Sears and President Trump. “Winsome Sears is running a disastrous campaign,” sneered DGA communications director Sam Newton. “The RGA should ask Donald Trump why he still refuses to endorse or campaign with Sears.”

But the truth is clear — Earle-Sears doesn’t need to rely on Washington politicians. Her campaign is fueled by grassroots Virginians fed up with Democrat corruption, chaos, and violence.

Republican attorney general candidate Jason Miyares also blasted Jones’ disturbing rhetoric, calling his conduct “disqualifying.” Miyares didn’t hold back: “If you believe it’s okay to wish death upon a political opponent — vote for my opponent. If you believe it’s worth the death of children to advance your political goals — vote for my opponent. If you want to give a green light to violent lunatics — vote for my opponent.”

Earle-Sears echoed those sentiments, warning that Democrats are deliberately stoking hatred to gain power. “The enemy is among us, devouring us in Virginia and in America today,” she said. “Jay Jones fantasizes about murdered little children lying lifeless in their mother’s arms. And yet he runs for attorney general, our chief law enforcement officer. The leadership of the Democrat Party is inciting violence as a strategy to win power.”

Building momentum, Earle-Sears delivered one of her most powerful speeches yet. “Words have meaning,” she said. “Rage is defined as violent, uncontrolled anger. The unstable pull the triggers — but they are inspired by the hate tolerated and encouraged by the leadership of the Democrat Party.”

As an immigrant who has seen firsthand what happens when leftist extremism destroys freedom, Earle-Sears ended on a note that struck deep with Virginia voters. “Let each of us act to protect our beloved Commonwealth of Virginia and the gift from God that is the United States of America.”

Even President Trump weighed in, blasting the Democratic ticket. “It has just come out that the Radical Left Lunatic, Jay Jones, who is running against Jason Miyares, made sick and demented comments about murdering a Republican legislator, his wife, and their children,” Trump said. “Abigail Spanberger refuses to condemn it. Even Democrats are saying this is resignation territory. Jay Jones should drop out of the race immediately. The people of Virginia deserve better.”

With the RGA stepping in and conservative outrage mounting, Virginia’s political landscape just shifted. Earle-Sears may have been trailing before — but now, the fight is on.
