Oregon Democrats just made one of the most stunning political admissions of the year — and they did it on camera, the day before Thanksgiving.
In a video released Wednesday, Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield proudly announced he is suing the Trump Administration to stop the president from cutting off food stamp benefits for illegal aliens. That’s right: after months of insisting that illegal migrants don’t receive taxpayer-funded welfare, Oregon is now fighting in court to make sure they keep receiving it.
The lawsuit targets President Trump’s sweeping reforms to SNAP, the food stamp program. As part of the administration’s broader effort to deter illegal immigration and reduce fraud, everyone currently on SNAP must reapply — a simple measure designed to weed out ineligible applicants, including illegal aliens and others abusing the system.
Instead of applauding an effort to protect taxpayers and restore integrity to the program, Oregon Democrats rushed to defend noncitizens who aren’t even supposed to be receiving benefits in the first place.
Rayfield opened his announcement with pure theatrics:
“It’s wild and absolutely stupid that we have to be here today, a day before Thanksgiving. We’re one of the most wealthy countries in the world, and no one should go hungry in America.”
Of course, nobody disputes that Americans in need should get help. But that’s the key word: Americans.
Rayfield then pretended to be shocked — shocked! — that illegal aliens were losing access to benefits Democrats claimed they were never getting:
“When this came out, I think a lot of us were thinking, this has to be a mistake… Why would the USDA be yanking food benefits away from people?”
He went on to lump illegal aliens in with lawful residents, asylum seekers, and refugees, deliberately blurring the legal lines for political effect:
“If you’re an asylum seeker… if you’re here for a humanitarian purpose… we should never yank people’s food benefits away.”
But that’s not what’s happening. Trump’s policy targets illegal recipients — something Democrats spent years swearing didn’t exist. Now they’re racing into court to protect the very pipeline of taxpayer-funded benefits they said wasn’t real.
Rayfield bragged that he expects to win an injunction to force the federal government to keep the benefits flowing:
“The hope is that we’ll have a preliminary injunction… to make sure that we can get this food assistance flowing again.”
That’s Democrat-speak for “protecting welfare for people who aren’t supposed to be here.”
Predictably, the backlash online was fierce. Libs of TikTok summed up the absurdity perfectly:
“JUST IN: Oregon Attorney General is suing the Trump admin because they cut SNAP benefits for noncitizens and are cracking down on fraud. But Democrats insisted noncitizens weren’t getting taxpayer-funded benefits… Now they’re suing to make sure they do. Unreal.”
Democrats lied. Noncitizens were getting benefits — and now they’re fighting to keep it that way.
As the Trump Administration continues cleaning up the welfare rolls, Oregon’s lawsuit exposes a brutal truth: For the left, illegal immigration has never been about compassion. It has always been about power — and they’re willing to drain taxpayer dollars to protect it.
