Although many talented people are discovered by members of the entertainment industry, some extremely talented people are discovered through the actions of others and social media sharing.
In the case of Kris Jones, a 38-year-old father of three from Alvarado, Texas, his daughter’s actions and the viral nature of social sharing have made his amazing talent a recent trending topic across many online social platforms.
Jones has a beautiful singing voice, but he was passed over by the entertainment industry when he auditioned for NBC’s reality show called “The Voice.”
His talent was not discovered until his daughter recently decided to post a video titled “Tennessee Whiskey Amazing Cover!!!!” to her “Daylafulla” YouTube channel on January 2, 2017.
While Jones and his daughter drove around one day, she asked him to perform a cover of the George Jones song called “Tennessee Whiskey.” She made it seem like she was adjusting her smartphone to play background music, but she was actually recording the entire performance via an app.
In a little over two weeks since Jones’ daughter uploaded her video, his amazing performance has generated more than 12.6 million YouTube likes. It has also resulted in requests for Jones to create more videos and an album of cover songs.
Jones has set up YouTube and Facebook channels to showcase his talent and turn his passion into a more lucrative enterprise. On January 8, Jones thanked his fans in another video before performing a cover of Ben E. King’s “Stand by Me.”
