An Egyptian national suspected of launching a brutal firebomb and flamethrower attack on a peaceful group of pro-Israel demonstrators in Boulder, Colorado, is not only being investigated for terrorism — but was in the United States illegally after overstaying his visa, according to Homeland Security sources.
Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, allegedly ambushed a group of mostly elderly Americans during a walk in solidarity with Israeli hostages still being held by Hamas terrorists. Authorities say Soliman hurled Molotov cocktails and used a homemade flamethrower to set participants ablaze in what is being called a deliberate and targeted attack.
The suspect — now under arrest — first entered the U.S. through Los Angeles International Airport in August 2022 on a temporary non-immigrant visa. He was supposed to leave by February 26, 2023. Instead, he overstayed, remained unlawfully, and was inexplicably granted a work permit by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in March 2023. That permit expired in March 2025 — making him an illegal alien for over two months at the time of the alleged attack.
Conservative leaders blasted the Biden administration for its role in allowing Soliman to remain in the country long after his visa had expired.
“A terror attack was committed in Boulder, Colorado by an illegal alien. He was granted a tourist visa by the Biden Administration and then he illegally overstayed that visa. In response, the Biden Administration gave him a work permit,” former Trump adviser Stephen Miller wrote on X. “Suicidal migration must be fully reversed.”
It turns out Soliman had a prior immigration history — one that should have raised red flags. According to law enforcement, he was denied a U.S. visa back in 2005. It remains unclear whether additional attempts were made before his successful entry in 2022. What is clear: he should not have been here.
During Sunday’s attack, Soliman allegedly waited in ambush for the group — comprised largely of Jewish seniors — at a designated stop along their solidarity walk. In chilling images from the scene, Soliman is seen shirtless, wielding bottles of clear liquid, believed to be part of his makeshift firebomb arsenal.
Authorities say eight people — four men and four women ranging in age from 52 to 88 — were hospitalized. One victim remained in critical condition as of Sunday evening. Soliman was also injured and treated at a nearby hospital before being taken into custody.
The FBI confirmed what many already suspected: the violent act is being investigated as a domestic terror attack.
“This is a targeted act of violence, and the FBI is investigating this as an act of terrorism,” said FBI Denver Special Agent Mark Michalek during a press conference.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed that DHS is working closely with the FBI in the investigation. But critics say the damage has already been done — and that the attack is the tragic but predictable consequence of the Biden administration’s failure to enforce immigration laws and vet foreign nationals properly.
While the media often downplays or ignores crimes committed by illegal immigrants, this latest incident has shattered that narrative. Americans are now left wondering how many other dangerous individuals have slipped through the cracks.
This is not just a story about one deranged attacker. It’s a story about a broken system, a reckless immigration policy, and a federal government more focused on virtue signaling than national security.
Peaceful Americans — especially elderly citizens advocating for the release of hostages — should never have to fear for their lives on American soil. Yet under the current administration, even a solidarity walk can turn into a terror scene.
It’s time to restore common sense and put American safety first. The Biden administration must be held accountable — before more innocent people are harmed.
