But instead of Zubaydah’s name, the graphic read: “OBAMA BIN LADEN ASSOCIATE: ABU ZUBAYDAH.”
Although Sanchez never uttered the words “Obama Bin Laden” himself, the mix-up was impossible to ignore, and social media quickly exploded with laughter and disbelief.
“CNN is gone. Might as well turn off the lights,” mocked X user Clara Winslow. Another user, Daniel, joked, “Freudian slip much CNN?”
Some even speculated that the mistake might not have been accidental. “That was not a misprint. Shame on whoever did that,” said one user, suggesting the mix-up was intentional—though it’s hard to imagine any reasonable person thinking that such a blunder could be anything but a colossal mistake.
