If you’re wondering why young men are sprinting away from the Democratic Party, CNN just gave the perfect answer—live and unscripted.

During a town hall event with socialist senator Bernie Sanders on Wednesday, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper found himself tripping over the Left’s ever-expanding list of gender rules. Cooper, who’s no stranger to progressive politics himself, committed the ultimate woke blunder: he assumed someone’s gender. The horror.

Introducing Democratic activist and self-proclaimed “civil rights attorney” Grace Thomas, Cooper referred to Thomas—who, for all intents and purposes, appears female—as “she.” That was apparently a bridge too far.

“It’s they/them pronouns, actually,” Thomas corrected him, triggering one of the most cringe-worthy moments in recent CNN history. Cooper, momentarily stunned, could only manage an awkward “Oh,” before moving on.

Thomas then posed a question that nearly answered itself: why are young men abandoning the Democratic Party?

Online, conservatives had a field day.

“The best part is that right after scolding Anderson Cooper for not calling her ‘they,’ she asks a question about why Democrats are losing men,” one X user laughed.

“Keep putting the pronoun police on national television,” another wrote. “We’ll win every election.”

Even some Republicans showed sympathy for the CNN host—an extremely rare occurrence.

“I’m going to defend Anderson Cooper here,” one commenter wrote. “It was entirely reasonable to assume a woman would use female pronouns. Her rebuke was a snarky, gotcha moment. Who else found that highly irritating?”

Let’s be honest: this moment was more than just a viral clip—it was a microcosm of why the Democratic Party is bleeding support among normal, everyday Americans, especially young men. They’ve traded in bread-and-butter issues like jobs, energy, and security for a circus of pronouns and identity confusion. And the results have been devastating—for them.

In the 2024 election, young men—across race and class lines—delivered a landslide for President Donald J. Trump. According to AP VoteCast, Trump won 57% of men under 30, a jaw-dropping 24-point lead over Kamala Harris. Compare that to 2020, when Biden led Trump among young men by 15 points. That’s not just a swing—it’s a seismic shift.

The numbers get worse for Democrats when broken down. Young white and Latino men swung toward Trump by 22 and 38 points respectively. Gallup data shows the trend has been building for years. In 2016, a majority of young men leaned Democrat. By 2023, more young men identified as Republican—for the first time in two decades.

Why? Because the Democrats have become the party of delusion. From forcing biological males into women’s sports to endorsing gender hormones for confused children, the Left has abandoned reality. And President Trump called it out with precision during the campaign.

One of his most memorable slogans said it best: *“Kamala is for they/them. President Trump is for you.”*

Even Democratic leaders are starting to see the writing on the wall. California Governor Gavin Newsom—hardly a conservative—has admitted that letting biological males compete in female sports is “unfair.” No kidding.

Maybe instead of scolding people for saying “she” when talking to a woman, Democrats should focus on the real problems facing the country. Until then, they can expect young men—and a whole lot of others—to keep walking away.
