Michelle Obama, previous First Lady, and former President Obama are touring Italy on a well-need vacation, and her Italian fans have welcomed the couple with open arms. Barack Obama waved at crowds and Michelle smiled at her fans when they arrived at different destinations. However, Michelle’s fans are a bit taken back her choice of attire while vising the Duomo de Siena, The Siena Cathedral that was built in the 12th century.
Michelle wore high-waisted green casual pants and a top that bared her shoulders to visit the cathedral. Social media users criticized the former First Lady for wearing an outfit that is deemed inappropriate for church. One observer noted that tourists do not go into churches in Italy with their backs brazenly exposed. Another commentator remarked that Michelle needs to return to her classy ways and cover-up. This commentator when on to say Michelle’s outfit was very embarrassing for Americans. Some mourned the classy Michelle, and one commentator went on to wonder what happened to Michelle since she left the White House. They remarked that her current outfit was scary. One fan remarked that Michelle was not going to church, only visiting an ancient cathedral and perhaps she did not realize that there were respect customs that needed to be observed. It seems that the proper trend when visiting cathedrals or churches in Italy is to have no exposed shoulders or vast expanses of back skin showing. Fortunately, Michelle’s top was high necked and did not reveal cleavage. Many women who visit Italy’s ancient cathedrals take scarves to drape across bare shoulders to show respect. Although at one time it was advisable to cover your head with a scarf, this practice is no longer necessary.
Not all critics felt that Michelle Obama’s clothing was improper. One commentator felt that when traveling in warm climates and on vacation, it is perfectly permissible to wear revealing or off the shoulder outfits. Still another commentator said that it was probably nice, for Michelle, to dress as she likes when you are no longer the First Lady of the United States. Fans on social media went on to praise Michelle Obama for her eating healthy platform and to criticize the current First Lady for her lack of platforms, and to let Michele know she was missed.
While touring the town of Montalcino , Michelle was seen wearing a bright pink off-the-shoulder top with ripped white jeans. Included in Michelle’s entourage were from her security team. She was happily smiling at fans and seemed perfectly comfortable in her off-the-shoulder top. Members of her security team were dressed modestly and seemed to understand the customs of Italy. Michelle’s choice of outfits lately has seemed to be more revealing and less modest. Off course, when you are no longer have the eyes of every country on your every outfit it is good to go a little more casual. The majority of comments, however, did seem to believe that the former First Lady should be a bit more circumspect.
