Alexa PenaVega, known for her role in Spy Kids, stated that she moved away from Hollywood to focus on her faith. The 33-year-old starlet explained her decision to leave Hollywood and pursue a relationship with her faith in a new interview. She has since relocated her family to a rural home in Hawaii, saying that “God pulled her out” of Hollywood so she could pursue “living her life for Jesus.”

Fame was something PenaVegaos left behind five years ago in 2017. Maui, Hawaii is now where you can find them after they decided to move out of Hollywood with their family. Carlos PenaVega, her husband and former member of Big Time Rush being 32-years-old at the time. The Christian couple lives with their three kids on the small island and finds contentment in Jesus Christ.

Alexa and Carlos decided to move from California to Hawaii after having their first child. They were looking for a place where they could live according to their Christian faith, rather than in the “heathen” state of California. In moving to holy Hawaii, they hoped to find like-minded people with whom they could share their faith community.

In their memoir, What if Love is the Point? Living for Jesus in a Self-Consumed World, Alexa and her husband open up about how they left Hollywood behind to pursue their faith. In an interview with Fox, Alexa explained that she felt “trapped in the entertainment world” and knew that she needed to make a change.

She found that the people in Los Angeles were “so jaded.” She didn’t feel like she fit in with them, since they were all trying to make it big in Hollywood. But she said that “God pulled her out” of LA so she could “learn how to be an awesome mom and wife.”

Moreover, Alexa’s husband was “really struggling” after facing multiple rejections. Carlos was trying out for roles but not having any success in Hollywood. The lifestyle “was just becoming too much for him,” according to Alexa.

“Carlos was really struggling with the industry,” she said. “Every audition he went on, it would get down between him and one other guy, and the other guy would always get it. The rejection was just becoming too much for him. This went on for a full year. At the time, I was pregnant.”

She continued, “We’d always talked about moving to Hawaii, but later on in life, like a retirement plan. But we also knew that we didn’t want to raise our kids in Los Angeles.”

However, Alexa was not interested in leaving Hollywood because “loved her career and LA.” Even so, she had a sudden realization that Hawaii would be a better life for her while she was “praying in the car” one day.

“It stopped me in my tracks because all that time, I thought we were just moving for Carlos. But I needed a heart to reset. I was the one trapped in the entertainment world and needed to take a step back. My job became my identity. God pulled me out of that so I could learn how to be an awesome mom and an awesome wife. God helped us build that foundation in our family. And once I had that revelation, I felt at peace.”
