One great thing about this time of year is listening to Christmas carols.

Every state in the nation has at least one radio station dedicated to playing the finest Christmas songs on the planet. One of the most stirring carols is without a doubt “O Holy Night.”

This traditional song, which was composed by Frenchman Adolphe Adam in 1847, has become one of the most sacred carols in the canon of Christmas music.

Just a few prominent artists and groups who have covered this song include Luciano Pavarotti, the Choir of King’s College, Mariah Carey, and Jackie Evancho.

One of the boldest new interpretations of this legendary song comes from the American a cappella group Home Free. In case you haven’t heard, Home Free originated in Minnesota in the year 2000.

This group consists of five male vocalists: Rob Lundquist, Adam Rupp, Austin Brown, Tim Foust, and Adam Chance.

These a cappella vocalists gained national attention when they won NBC’s fourth-season of The Sing-Off. Since then, these guys have been selling out live shows all across the USA, and they released their first studio album in 2014.

Home Free’s vocalists are known for the distinctive Southern spin they put on their covers, and you can certainly hear this in their rendition of “O Holy Night.” This music video was filmed in a church with simple, yet emotionally effective, lighting all around them.

You can tell from the sparse background that Home Free really wanted their viewers to focus on the music and message of this powerful song.

Home Free’s rendition of “O Holy Night” has well over six million hits on YouTube, and that’s growing by the day.

If you liked this song, be sure to check out some of the other Christmas songs they covered. These songs include “White Christmas,” “Angels We Have Heard On High,” And “I’ll Be Home For Christmas.”
