What does six months mean to a person? In most situations it’s not a huge amount of time. But for someone planning her wedding it means everything in the world. It’s a six month period of trying to ensure everything turns out right. That a day she and everyone she loves will look back on for the rest of their lives will be everything it could be. It’s work that’s well worth it. But it can feel isolating at times. It can feel stressful at times. And this in part shows why a recent wedding saw the bride break down in tears of happiness.
The wedding of Neil and Tricia was a thing of beauty. After all, once again, she had spent half a year working on it. If she had anything to say about the situation it would be pretty incredible. But anyone who’s been in that situation can feel empathy for the type of emotion felt in a situation like that. It’s saying something that the start of a new life together can almost be forgotten in the midst of something so big. The emotions anyone feels at that moment are hard to describe. But when the bride herself handled most of the preparations it takes on a whole new meaning. It’s wonderful, but one also often feels an odd isolation during it. The main problem comes down to two points. One knows everything that’s going to happen. And one also tends to feel a little overburdened by the fact that she has had to personally handle so much more than anyone else there. That shouldn’t be taken to mean that most people are unhappy as a result. But it does complicate one’s emotions and make a vulnerable moment even more so. This might be why she was so struck when, during the ceremony, a surprising voice rang out. The Kincasslagh, Co. Donegal location was soon to see something quite unexpected.
It was the start of a whole crowd of people walking to the front of the pulpit. It was a respectful procession, but also quite odd to most of the people there. Of course for all the reasons discussed Tricia was probably the most shocked and emotional. Even more so when the crowd broke out into a rendition of “How Great Thou Art”. She had broken down crying in happiness before the song was even finished. What’s more, these weren’t just talented singers. Many local celebrities were a part of the choir. This included Daniel O’Donnell, Majella, Derek Ryan, Tony Kenny, Shaun Cuddy, Tony Allen and more. The person she had to thank for the surprise was one of her friends, Gavin Boyle. What’s more, the event would come to the attention of the entire world when the video was put online. It’s one thing to know that your wedding has moved the people you know. But it’s quite another to know that other people, seemingly uninvolved, have shed tears of happiness as a result. The happy couple, now joined as Neil and Tricia Swan, will never forget the day. But the emotion of the event is even more significant for the fact that they know their own happiness will continue to impact others. As long as people look for happy moments on the internet they can know that their own special moment might brighten someone’s day.
