A few years ago, a young boy in Estonia made a bizarre discovery. Deep tracks in the mud led into the depths of the murky Lake Kurna Matasiarv, where the water seemed to be bubbling with trapped air under the surface. The boy went on his way, and thought nothing of the incident, continuing to make the same walk nearly every day for the next two months. The bubbling continued and the tracks were seemingly frozen in time.

Eventually, after mentioning the incident to several neighbors and his parents, a group of adults got together to investigate what might be in the lake. After a bit of poking around, the adults concluded that there must be something inside of the lake. Knowing that it wasn’t very deep, based on accounts from the older people in the group, they began a search at the water’s edge and eventually came upon a large object.

After some speculation, they decided the only logical course of action was to find a way to bring the large object to the surface in order to discover what it truly was. With some help from other locals, they obtained a 68-ton dozer that they hoped would be able to free the trapped object.

As the dozer did its work, the people waited and wondered what the object could possibly be. As the object began to make its way slowly to the surface, everyone stood aghast at what it turned out to be.
The mud began to drip off of the object’s surface revealing a truly shocking sight: A decades old full-size soviet military tank!

After the discovery shook the town, investigators were dispatched to discover what the tank was and why it would be inside of a small lake in Estonia of all places. They revealed that the tank dated back to WWII, and had been used by the Soviet army, then captured by German soldiers and possibly driven into the lake in order to prevent it from being discovered.
