In a heartbreaking message that struck a chord with millions of Americans this week, longtime Fox News personality and co-host of Gutfeld!, Kat Timpf revealed that her father, Daniel “Dad Timpf” Timpf, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 69.
The emotional announcement, shared online Tuesday, quickly went viral as supporters from across the political spectrum offered prayers and condolences to the popular conservative commentator, who has already endured more than her share of hardship in recent years.
According to Timpf, her father appeared healthy and strong in the days leading up to his sudden death on May 7, making the loss even more shocking for family and friends. No cause of death has yet been publicly disclosed.
“My seemingly healthy, strong father Daniel ‘Dad Timpf’ Timpf died very unexpectedly on the evening of May 7 at just 69 years old,” she wrote in the devastating post.
But what followed was far more than a simple obituary. It was a powerful tribute to fatherhood, family, and the kind of steady masculine strength that so often goes uncelebrated in modern culture.
“It does not seem like enough to simply call him my father,” Timpf wrote, “because he was so much more than that. He was my rock, my hero and my best friend.”
She described a man who embodied reliability, sacrifice, and quiet wisdom — qualities conservatives have long argued are the backbone of strong families and healthy communities.
“He was loyal, funny, kind, selfless, hard-working,” she continued, “and so devoted to his children that it was impossible to be near him and not find yourself inspired.”
Timpf painted a portrait of a deeply talented and intellectually curious man: a writer, painter, sailor, and lifelong learner who could discuss everything from literature and history to accounting and politics.
“He was the most dependable person anyone has ever met,” she added. “I always felt like, as long as I had his phone number, there was not a problem I could not solve.”
The tragedy comes after what has already been an incredibly difficult chapter in Timpf’s life. In 2025, she welcomed her first child — a son — while simultaneously facing a shocking breast cancer diagnosis just hours before going into labor.
Through it all, she says, her father became the stabilizing force that held the family together.
“As soon as he heard about my diagnosis,” she explained, “he simply got into the car and started driving to New York.”
He arrived just as her son was born — remarkably, on his own birthday.
Timpf later underwent a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery, and she says her father repeatedly stepped in to help care for her newborn son during the painful recovery process.
“At an awful, awful year,” she wrote, “I found so much joy and hope throughout it by watching the beauty of a very special relationship form between my son and my father.”
Her post became especially emotional as she described their final goodbye just days before his death. Her young son proudly helped his grandfather wheel his suitcase to the car before he left for Michigan.
“The goodbyes were quick,” she wrote. “Why wouldn’t they be? We thought we’d all see each other again in June.”
Instead, she received the kind of phone call every child dreads — learning from an emergency room doctor that her father had died unexpectedly.
The outpouring of support online was immediate. Conservatives, Fox News viewers, and fellow media personalities flooded social media with prayers and tributes not only for Timpf, but for the kind of father her words so vividly described.
At a time when American culture often downplays the importance of fathers and family bonds, Timpf’s heartbreaking tribute served as a reminder of something timeless: strong fathers matter, loving families matter, and the quiet sacrifices of good men leave an impact that lasts long after they are gone.
